I paid with credit cards and part time jobs. I still think student debt needs to be forgiven.

For certain majors. Not paying for someone to get a music degree and work in Starbucks or Walmart! Will already be paying for it in food stamps and other government assistance.

See and if they got their debt paid, they wouldn’t be on food stamps anymore cos they would using their Starbucks wages to buy food

No, we shouldn't be paying for their majors that did not end up in decent careers. Choices have consequences. Hate to stereotype but we will still be paying for government assistance... nobody likes to give up free money especially once you get used to it.

I understand about the wealth gap that is happening currently today. Back then, people were able to save because school cost was not an issue unless you go to the big leagues. The wealth gap is so big that the poor is getting poorer and the rich is getting richer. In 30-50 years, many millennials will be broke without any savings to dip on. I agree with what another user stated on why the government should just get rid of the interest rate. Heck, I would love that for my mortgage.

So if you were still paying off 200k and they said “hey we will forgive up 50k in debt” you’ll jump in and say “pfft can someone be 200k in debt with out the government trying to help me by 50k of my debt!!?!”
