It just doesn't make sense to me to decouple the work permits. How does the US government expect everyone to survive? Basically they are giving permission to work without papers.

Charles Kuck (of 21 Savage Fame) posted an update yesterday, as well.
#DACA Notice: Judge Hanen issued an order last week allowing further briefing on the case impact of the two recent SCOTUS decisions involving executive authority related to enforcement and to standing. That means NO decision from the court for at least several more months. - Twitter

Did they drop out after the recent SCOTUS rulings?

It makes sense to me and is about the precedent law.

The reason why these "experts" in the podcast thought that the work permits could be taken away is because in a recent ruling, the supreme court decided that the biden descretion to prosecute was valid, at least for now since they found that the states suing had no standing because Biden controls the EXECUTIVE branch and therefore he decides who he wants to prosecute.

In the other hand Biden does not control the LEGISLATIVE branch, congress does, so Biden does't get to make new rules/laws on his own to give immigration benefits such as work permits to certain people.

So the courts could say that they are cool with Biden not deporting any group of people he chooses, but he can't make laws on his own to give immigration benefits such as work permits.

Anyhow, they all think that this whole thing is going to be finally decided as early as 2024 or as late as 2025 with the caviat of Hanen's/5th circuit ruling which they said should come as early as this month or as late as October, so I guess we will see soon.

I hope to whatever power in the universe is the true god that this is what ends up happening.

Just listened to the podcast on Youtube.

Bottom line takeaway is: current DACAs can breathe easily for the next year.

After that... who knows.

Such is our lives. Sigh.

So any updates on a bill for Dreamers or DACA legalization?
