Nothing new to see or discuss. Same shit, different toilet.
There is no hard push for us because there are no votes! What, are we going to hold our breath on Sinema and Manchin?
100%, the votes are not there and have not been there for decades. Immigration will not pass until one party has a super majority

The new year begins, it happens to be an election year, and bam! All of a sudden, the "crisis at the border" takes the spotlight again. Why can people see this republican playbook move year that keeps getting recycled over and over.

And now we have Biden saying he will "Shut down the border".... Like what???

To your point vft1008, about how it is an election year and now the "talks" begin... I just never expected Biden to flip in that direction....

I wouldn't give a cent to grifter immigrant 'rights' orgs which only take donations for political posturing.
It's unrealistic, inhumane and ridiculous that a legalization program for those who have lived in the country the longest is not part of this budget.

The country needs workers, teachers, health care providers.
Immigrants in the country need stability.
ALL(citizen and immigrant) need safety.

Once they know the bill is DOA, it is all about the blame game and trying to mitigate the political damage. Everything you read, hear, or see about this will be lip service from the politicians.

Dems in the Senate will vote on the bill so that they can run on it and blame House Republicans. The GOP will say that Biden can use executive action and doesn't need the bill.. All the while, immigrants will be left in the wind.

I have been saying this from Day 1. These organizations ALWAYS come out in numbers to oppose any bills that have any sort of legalization. They come out asking for "reject this! instead we want Clean DA, immediate citizenship for all!". They do this to make sure nothing passes and at the same time to fool the naive people into thinking they are "fighting hard". Its the biggest scam in history. They are taking in tons of cash and paying their top people over $100K easy. They are nowhere to be seen right now because this bill doesn't have any sort of legalization. They are safe.

Any sort of "Border deal" or "Immigration reform" that does not include immediate legalization of all dreamers AT LEAST and/or legalization of other undocumented who have been here for ages with clean records.....is embarassing...Can't believe they're not pushing for this the Democrats...

The way to do it should be a compromise issue a "Work Permit + travel Permit" to Daca Holders+Parents of Daca holders/citizens/ people here 20+ years. Use the money collected from fees and tax revenue to pay for the benefits and assistance given to asylum seekers crossing the border, also reform the asylum process, reform border security, and have permanent renewal of registry date

While all of this makes sense, immigration as an issue is too valuable for Congress to actually solve. Both parties run on a broken immigration system and feel it gets people to vote.. Whenever a bill or deal is struck.. one group finds a way to kill it. The struggle over immigration is more valuable to DC than the solution

Our role in America is to be the political pawns or bargaining chips.

And that too in an election year....a presidential election year..no Sir...nothing is passing. Seeing this for the past 23 years. Biggest crooks...Congress...coupled with mafia immigrant "advocate" organizations milking the poor people out of cash...
