In this video, this PhD student from Turkey legally here on an F1 visa is apprehended by ICE because she wrote an oped in the student paper asking the university to divest from Israel. Palestine is neither here or there, US citizen or not she's got first amendment rights and her being arrested like that banana republic stuff.

But also notice the way they sneak up on her. I would never imagine that first guy was ICE.

Yup, this is how free speech is eroded away. They don't do it suddenly, they salami slice until soon you can't be critical of anything. Especially when nowhere in the constitution does it limit free speech by immigration status. Ultimately the constitution is only as effective as the Supreme Court that decides over it. And they take all sorts of goofy interpretation. See the 14th amendment debate. Are we in jurisdiction or not? Oh well, you'll see on various sites people applauding this despite it being a direct attack on their rights. That slipped past them in their hate for foreigners.

We've already long since been in banana Republic status. First they ran over their rights with the Patriot act, who could be against the patriot act?! A few did stand up though. They had some giblethead provisons in it where you had to be affected by the law to be able to challenge it in court but if you were affected then you couldn't challenge it.

And they had the guantano bay civil rights abuse dungeon and many other black sites just like it around the world. The infamous waterboarding torture method, but all it does it make them tell you what you want to hear.

I could go on forever, but it's a boring topic I've beat to death for years at this point. Ultimately, I don't see the situation improving anytime soon. Hopefully it will but smart money says no. 8 ball says no. It's a deep rot at the heart of the system.

Last but not least, the constitution is absolute across the country.

I think the wildest part of all this is how they eroded away due process and nobody noticed. Slipped past them in the partisan scuffle.

J6 terrorists, thrown in jail no due process
Undocumented, sent to bukele's dungeon no due process over having any tattoos.

Institute for peace: violent confrontation trying to access their internal data of a private organization and threats from the AG. Lmao the institute for peace?!

Not only that but they leaked top secret war plans on signal to a reporter. Lmao? I'm surprised they aren't trying to prosecute the journalist. They've gone as far as attacking his credibility. The current marching order is to deflect and say but Biden. It's time to swim, no more Biden pool floaties.

Now you can't even use free speech. Should we evacuate and flee the rise of fascism before it's too late? Also wild how they would rather live under fascism and economic depression than win win of regularization for the undocumented.

How long until everyone has to start wearing special pins and doing salutes from the heart.

Silver lining is that Mexico is rising even with all its issues. So at least I'm backed by a semi stable country, but lol what of my fellow Americans? Who knows man.
