Went on a sort of interview (more of a quick chat) today for an RA position. The person in charge said that most undergrads did it for credit and some just volunteered. She did not say anything about background check nor did she seem to care about it. Like others have said, this might be a problem for people that have graduated or have to deal with security measures.
