Sure, that's easy to open a bank account. Having a bank account will make your life more comfortable. Now you need to get a driver's license so you could drive and have an ID.

Yes, you can open an account with WaMu. You only need two forms of ID, but they didn't accept my ITIN as an ID. So I used my passport and a pay stub, you can also use a school ID.

And yes, I think Bank of America would be best. My dad was able to get a credit card with them, and he only has an ITIN.

Wells fargo also lets you use your matricula.

i should know, i did it

College ID, matricula, and just tell them that you got no ssn.

I dont know about people out there, but so far where ever i go and they ask for an ssn i just tell them about my situation and the people seem to understand. havent met no hardcored anti-immigrant as of yet

I don't know what a Matricular card is, but I have a credit card and a debit card from BoA. All I used was my College School ID, and my Student number which was structured like a SSN. That's about it. So, go ahead and open one, they're not there to "mousetrap" you.

You got a credit from Bank of America and you used your School ID instead of a SSN? I never heard about people who do it like that.
I know that it's possible to get a credit using an ITIN but never heard of someone who got it using his School ID.

Hi bn1, Yeah, I have a BoA credit card with about a 1k cred. line. I use it on and off. All that the banker asked of me was some sort of ID and I showed him my student ID. Then, when he asked for my SSN I gave him my school ID#. Of course, it only helps if your ID# is structured like an SSN. But, it's not a real SSN cause I tried that with other banks and it didn't register as a SSN.

So, if you need a CC to help with some minor payments, try at BoA. ^^ Let me know if you encounter any sort of problems/questions.

Oh yeah, it's possible that my school ID# could be my tax #... But, I haven't checked into that.

Maybe it was possible because it's also your Tax ID, like an ITIN. They didn't ask you if you have a job and check your income before giving your credit?
