I just wanted to share my experience, I applied for AP for work purposes in July 2014 Nebraska Service Center . I originally requested to travel in September 2014, got an RFE in December asking me to give them new dates, I travelled on January 12th 2015 to Romania and just got back today. I travelled through Chicago-getting a visa was easy-leaving easy.

Coming back I had to wait a longer than usual since both Bucharest, RO (almost missed my flight) and Munich, Germany have never seen AP. I got to chicago was led to the room, sat there for two hours because a lot of planes landed was not interviewed they just stamped the AP document and said I was good.

I think this experience made me think more that ever that we miss way too much when we don't have status, I could not even think having to do requests and waiting four months to experience life.
I think if my future maybe in europe I loved it.

Thanks in advance.
I'm a project manager for a company that imports Granite/marble slabs. A lot of business is done with the country i came from so with my boss getting older, i could take the chance of going and inspect material, go to meetings/event,s etc.

All i sent for documents was a letter signed by my employer saying the need for me to go and why i was going. The process took about 3-4 weeks tops.

In Atlanta, they asked me dad's and mom's names (i guess to confirm identity), how long i stayed out of the country, reason for departure, type of work i did and that was pretty much it. Everything was smooth.

For you, my advice is to have your employer type up a letter and also send proof (course enrollment, registration, etc) that you are actually doing the specialization. Good luck!

where did you go brz09tls? Also, you share your experience in Atlanta, how about in the other airport before you boarded the plane?

I went to Brazil from Dec 15th to Jan. 10th. The airport i boarded the plane in Brazil didnt know anything about AP document so i had to EXPLAIIN to the airline person what it was and i suggested to just make a copy of the document and let me go. He did exactly that and said "I hope i don't get fired for this". I replied "you wont". Basically the issue is that airlines need to make sure you either have a Visa or a Green Card in order to board the plane that's US-bound. Since the AP document is different, they are not used to it. But it worked in the end.

The experience in Atlanta was very smooth. I explained a couple of posts earlier that i asked the officer directing the traffic at the visitor's/residennts line that i had an AP document and which line i should go to, in the hopes i could maybe cut the whole line lol. There was about 300 people i would say waiting to go through immigration.

I lucked out and she directed me straight to a separate area where they inspected my documents and asked some basic questions like how long i was out of the country, reason to leave, mom's/dad's names. That was basically it.

Good experience overall

My Advance Parole application was received on January 26th by USCIS. I wrote EXPEDITE on the top right corner of my application and provided my marriage license/spouse's US Passport to speed up the process. On February 11th, they mailed me my AP document. I left to Mexico via airplane on January 20th and returned on the 23rd. I went to the visitor's line at customs in Houston, TX when I arrived to the US and provided my MX Passport/AP document. After they took my fingerprints and photo, the officer told me to wait for another agent that was going to take me to get processed. The other agent arrived pretty quickly and took me to a room with a lot of other people waiting. After 5 min, the same officer came and got me and took me to another room. This room was empty and I was the only one there, with the exception of the officers processing documents. My paperwork was given to one of the officers and he started to process my docs. After 10 min, he called me up and told me I was ready to go. I walked out and took my connecting flight to Phoenix.
