No doubt. I get that feeling that the officials who are closest to Chavez know it's over for Chavez. They are just trying keep the morale of their supporters up.

For those of you so terribly misinformed, let me try to explain this to you: the debt ceiling does NOT authorize any new spending. It simply gives the government permission to pay the debt it already owes.

Every time we come close to hitting the debt limit, the US has to ask Congress to raise the limit. In recent years, since the rise of the Tea Party, what used to be a mildly frustrating event has grown into a systemic economic threat. The debt ceiling is a useless and stupid idea.
