if I went that route (fake docs), wouldnt that possibly get me in trouble that could make me non eligible for DREAM????

I CURRENTLY have an unpaid internship with a MAJOR automotive research institution. It was originally meant to be just for the summer but I will now have to ask my boss if I can stay there for the fall at least, then we'll see. Moving to another state is not really an option at this point guys, its really not. Ive also said there are no private schools I could go to for engineering in SC. really, none.

I know Im not done, Im destroyed mentally and emotionally, but the people around me have been nothing but incredible. I hae a great support system and I KNOW DREAM WILL PASS. We have no choice guys, No Choice.

It would, and I don't think it would be a smart chance to take at this point.

Why not try private schools in other states? There was a guy who went to school in one state, then transferred to a private school in another state and got a full scholarship from his new college. Why not try that? You can then use the money you would normally pay for tuition to pay your room and board at the new college. Possible tell your story to that school. They might be very generous. Yale comes to mind.

Well, that's what I would do.

of your immigration related documents in to our office so we may make copies and ensure your file is updated. Documents should include: passport, visa, form I-94, and USCIS approval notice. Thank you for your cooperation."

I called to see what this meant, and as suspected, I will not be able to return to school this Fall until something happens in congress or marriage or who knows. Its not even about the money anymore, this is crazy. I hate SC.

It sucks because im currently in the Honors program at my university with a 3.73 in the engineering program, which is top 5%. - in many ways, all that for nothing today. Life's too real man, this aint no fairy tale.

just wanted to vent, any advice is welcome and best of luck to all. I hope your states are better.
That sucks soooo bad supernitro. I'm sorry to hear this. Don't give up hope yet though. If there is a teacher or a counselor or someone in the school that you feel comfortable with, try talking to them. Before AB 540 passed in CA undocumented students had to pay out-of-state tuition and I couldn't afford it. However, I spoke to a counselor, and he helped me out. Perhaps SC has a method that you are unaware of. I really advice you to not give up on it so easily. Speak to someone you can trust and ask them to guide you. Also, while a student at college, i was also sent notices in request for my social security number but i never responded and they never really did anything about it. Perhaps BY LAW they are required to ask for the documents but don't really enforce it once a student is IN the school already. Perhaps the BEST thing to do is do nothing for now. Once they really do something and say NO (for example, if you apply in the fall and they say no), then speak to someone you can trust. Don't get so down supernitro. Hope that the school doesn't follow through on it.

Yeah dude, there's always a way out no matter how grim the situation might appear. Definitely talk to the counselors (but make sure that they can be trusted). Hold on to your hope, because you are not alone in this, and DA will definitely pass this year! Woot Woot!!!

im not giving up, just know that my school wont even let me register, it shows "UNREGISTERED" - and I also have NO Housing assignment. I was told DIRECTLY by the international students director they WOULD CHECK the information provided for each student because SC is dead serious about this immigration thing. YOU WOULD HAVE TO LIVE HERE TO KNOW WHAT I MEAN. This is the MOST anti-immigrant place in the Continent. Hands Down.

Could I still apply for school in the fall? I mean its almost July now, my loan at SallieMae and Chase got rejected already because of immigration status and lack of a good cosigner, so thats why it seems like im giving up. IM NOT GIVING UP!! but Im also realistic in the situation thats going on, I dont wanna stick my neck out or put my hand in the Wolves' mouth right before CIR or DA goes into congress, thats my fear man. Its crazy. THANKS FOR ALL THE SUPPORT>

I'm sorry about your situation but you keep saying that SC is the worst place in the US for immigrants and then you keep saying that moving to another state is not an option. To me that actually makes no sense. If you have some money saved already for the next semester of college I would try to use that to move to a more liberal state like NY and apply to another college for the spring semester. I know this sucks and you feel like your world is tumbling down but let me assure you it can be much worse. Some people are already going through deportation proceedings and others, with the current state of economy and lack of decent paying jobs, are so broke they can't even think of affording college. You just hit a roadblock, but you can walk around it.

Do you have a SC DL and/or SS card? Because if you do, moving to another state shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Absolutely unfair. It seems that politicians always pick at the wrong things. Go figure.

Sorry to hear about your situation. You might want to check out a private school. The law says that you cannot go to a state school, but it says nothing about a private school. There are many liberal schools willing to give out free rides to minorities. You are in an advantage if your current school ranks top 5% in your program. You might want to contact private schools in other states. As I said, many will be willing to pay for you.

I have called a lot of private schools and most will pay for my PhD regardless of my legal status. So give that a try. Keep hope alive man. Things will work out.

I have thought about some private schools, but I didnt know the any would actually be willing to take me in and pay for me to go there, any ideas of a cood private school with engineering program in the southeast?

Southeast? I think you should look at Northeast. Their private schools have larger endowment compared to other private schools; well at least b4 this recession anyway. Call up Yale admission, and tell them about your situation. They won't bite.

The only private schools I know of in the southeast are Emory and Rice (I would consider Texas west though). I never really thought of the south as a bastion of high quality private schools, no offense to anyone, compared to the north or west.

Also, I would move fast, because the transfer deadline for most schools has already passed for the fall semester.

Edit: About the $100 thing, that is why you need to get a full scholarship from the private school you try to transfer to.
