Oh and Btw, back to the question, I came here in the early 90's, with a student visa, and a dollar and a dream
if i was in the P.I. i would've been a nurse with a BA or even a doctor. We were nowhere near poor in the Philippines. My mom was a Dentist. My dad is the one who had unstable money. It was such an unnecessary move, my dad just got impatient and chased his dream and dragged us along with him. We had a 10 year visa too so we could've went in and out of the country with ease. all he had to do was wait 6 more damn years for us to have a degree that could get us a green card fast. but yeah what's worse is he realized how hard life is in the US w/o papers and he has the audacity to blame us for why we're such losers when i should have a career.whatever.

We were well off as well, well not totally rich..but better than being here i guess. If you would of gotten that degree than I personally would of eventually gotten a job sponsorship and got out of that country lol

"normal border crossing"

I'm in the same boat, except I was 3 when I was brought over.

My parents brought me here 13 years ago. But also I did want to come to the US for better education. We all knew how flawed and lame Korean education was. But in a way, we did not prepare much about all the legal processes etc. I was too young to understand the importance of PR, and citizenship.

my mom...when i was two in 1989....i'm thankful that she did...i am only upset with her that she just sat and watched all the immigration laws change without aggressively trying to do something...that is what angers me the most!....I have cousins here and their mothers did everything they needed to do and now they are set and they came waaaaaaaaaaaaaay after i did!! so it's like oh my goodness mom are you serious, how am i suppose to feel?!?!?

I came by myself in 1995 when I was 10 years old. Well I guess I did have a flight attendant assigned to me. She asked me how long was I visiting for... I said I was staying for two months (that's what my parent's told me)... obviously that didn't happen.
