Good info but I agree with ECW

I'd love to find a job but dont they want a state ID and all that and well we dont have that. Moreover, a lot if not most of this info is confusing since isnt it a crime to work with a fake ssn and all this.

I think the crime comes in to play when/if you use a persons ss#, name, and all other info. THAT'S identity theft. That's a crime. But there are people who use a fake ss# with their own name. I think that's what he's trying to say is not a crime.

Meh, I just came to provide some info and it's ok if anyone wants to take it with a grain of salt. There's no need for any drama to come out of this. Read, process, move on.

I appreciate that upbeat (sorta) post but if I recall like a couple a months ago there was a post that said that a congressman or senator that they met said Immigration reform was gonna be in huge talks and get passed in a couple of months. Well, a couple of months passed and now look at the rut we're in. So unless I get an offical statement in a respected new media, I can never completely trust "High officials/people you know or met". Thanx a lot for the rest of the info though.

I agree. Don't take what I said in the last post to mean don't post any news you may hear, just that things are always said and we always need to be prepared when they may not come true

It's all good. All of us hold different views based on what our personal beliefs and sources of information are. It would be wrong for anyone to hold any sort of grudge against someone else because of a difference of opinion. Although my source was clear on the period when this opportunity could present before us all of us should do everything within our reach to prepare for when that time comes.

Study on your own, learn new languages, obtain certifications, and attend seminars and have fun while you do it so if this thing gets through you'll be able to start the life you want right away and if it doesn't meet your time frame at least you will have all the knowledge and skills to move to some other country and do what you love to do.

I no longer see this "reform" as a way to fix my situation, it pretty much is emotional. If I let things flow normally within the limitations I have and forget about the stigma and fears that accompany being undocumented I should be able to end up living the life I want. Maybe I could end up legitimately marrying someone or making good contacts. All of you have probably met people who have a social security number and are complete fuck ups, so, meh. It's all a matter of perspective and how we limit ourselves.

Timeline you put is complete BS imo. How the could a mid-level executive branch pencil pusher know about legislative agenda down to a T?

Please stop me if am wrong, but unless this "highly ranked ICE official" is secretary of homeland security I think most of this is bullshit. I don't really see any helpful information here. The part about working and military is basically self explanatory, who here would walk around with a fake social? Most of the information provided are decisions that can be made on your own with common sense and good judgment. The part about DREAM is even more mind boggling. Chuck Schumer don't even know when his own bill is going to come out and he's the third-ranking Democrat in the Senate, first it was gonna be fall, then after health care, but yet still this "highly ranked ICE man" know exactly when things are gonna be fixed even before the midterms election. "He knows that some sort of pathway for undocumented immigrants (free of a criminal charges) to become legal residents will be established and put to action towards the end of 2011. It will not be called an immigration amnesty
sounds fishy. besides most of these things are "common knowledge" you don't have to be a high ranking ICE official to know any of this besides what type of government employee will tell you its ok to use someone else's SSN?

And we all know of cases where our fellow dreamies and their family deported without any crime records.

Because there is no corruption at any of the three branches of government, right? There is no point in giving out any disinformation, plus it took me hours to put all this stuff in order. Do you think I would want to get any of you in trouble? As for the time frame of the passing of a migratory reform, the guy was not talking out of his ass, even if it is his opinion he openly carries a gun and an ICE badge way far off any border checkpoint so at least I can personally find legitimacy in that.

I don't know how things work in other states but at least here in Texas I have gotten three jobs using fake documents [baww big brother baww] and cashed my checks without a problem.

There is always going to be unjustified deportations but according to him most of those happen to immigrants who don't speak English and even then there are over 12 million undocumented immigrants, so the chances that YOU getting deported are way smaller than an immigration reform passing anytime soon.
