We have many parties, some of them are socialist leaning, some are liberal democrats, etc, so I understand the differences. The poor will always be among us (Jesus said this).
i would say having parties with socialists leanings doesnt represent a truly socialist ideology , these are reformers parties that dont get to the root of the issue which is the emancipation of workers worldwide. greece is a great example of that right now. in the u.s the communist party is rcp(revolutionary communist party), all their info is at rev.com i think, socialist organizations in the us include socialist alternative in affilitation with cwi (committee for workers international) and the international socialist organization . things i personally found useful in educating myself , were reading latin america history books, watching documentaries on the subject, check out the websites of these organizations, talked to the members of these organizations and had and continue to have discussions about the subject. you can check out a meeting as well. read up on marx, lenin, mao, stalin, and understand their similotaries and difference. never believe everything you hear until you have evidence thats its true. *all of the organizations i listed have wiki articles and websites, they have a lot of good info

Either way, the media is our best game.

The only question left is who will take up our cause?
hahahahahahahahahaha i hope this was suppose to be a really funny joke

I am a guest to this forum an I am here out of curiosity.

Speaking from the other side, the rallies do nothing to further your cause. All I saw was a bunch of people waving Mexican and foreign flags demanding citizenship. If they want to be citizens, then they should have been waving American flags. I and just about everyone I know found the whole thing distasteful.

This topic got a little off topic but I really agree with the original poster.

My brother and mother went to one of the rallies and showed me some communist/socialist pamphlets they were given. I just looked at them (the pamphlets, not my mom/brother) and shook my head. What kind of message are we trying to give? That people are free to invade a country and are just in demanding the resources of the country/people they invaded? 'cause that's exactly what it's saying. So who's ever doing this, just stop.

Besides the negative perception it gives, it's just way to easy to get a bunch of young frustrated kids to scream out revolution without really having them understand what it all really means. Look, my pops studied under some of yesteryear's Latin American socialist/communist leaders; and growing up I went through a similar revolutionist phase, but let me just tell you something, he was quick to set me straight. I now handle things way differently and it's worked amazingly for me.

But to get back on topic, there are some other things going on in these rallies that also really need to go. Waving foreign flags and screaming out foreign chats ain't gonna' move us forward -- it's cool to be who you are but we are fighting to change the opinions/views of other people. Probably worst of all, I saw a protest where a bunch of Dream Acters were blocking roads. Really, what the hell were you guys thinking?! You guys probably set us back a lot with that one. Good move.

One last thing, to the person who compared slavery to the current situation with illegal immigrants, you come very close to disgusting me. Grow up, inform yourself, gain some perspective and then come back to make a meaningful comment that'll actually help us.

transient your so ignorant is hard to grasp, and also sad , because you;re the perfect illegal, never question the system or why the fuck youre an illegal ahaha truly sad.. i would encourage people like you that claim that they know all about the "socialist" ways to dare have an intelligent discussion with one of them, dont be too embarrased when you find out the truth, it just means the system worked perfectly on you.

I do agree that waving foreign flags and chanting in foreign languages does not help our cause at times but...

...let's stop resurrecting old threads, necromancers. ):

is time to get over these rallies. they are useless and don't do anything. if we want to win and win soon, we need to take it to the next level. and while you are at it, don't tell me that the system is broken and that it needs fixing and chant "si se puede." also stop wearing the cap and gown. that is old and so 2001.

haha ha what next level? ... i also wish that black people that were lynched while protesting for their rights during the past 300 years would come out of their graves and walk like zombies to your house to see if you would be capable of telling them " you really shouldve stayed home and allow your repeated oppression and dont tell me that the system needs fixing and at the same time chant"we shall overcome" god if i was you , i would jump off the nearest bridge and aim to land on my face, living life being so incredible ignorant about your own oppression and of your people , wouldnt be a life worth living.

do you honestly believe that they won because of the rallies? and there are fundamental differences that set us apart. learn your history. go ahead and have rally after rally and see you in 2015 chanting "si se puede" (should you speak spanish) and wearing a cap and gown. been at it since 1995 or so (really started big in 2003) and there is nothing new we are doing.
