i hate to see ppl get GC through marriage - Page 3

I know majority will just want a green card, but like some posters said, it won't be that easy with very limited time and process time they have to go through. I don't know now, but I think tourist visa is like 30 days to 90 days. Correct me if I am wrong.

If they don't succeed within 30-90 days, they become undocumented, and I believe they are barred from getting GC by marriage.

And even if you get a green card that way, how do you know your life will be happy? What if the spouse is psycho and abusive? Would you be able to bear it over 2 years? What if your spouse suddenly die from accident? Many weird stuffs can spring up.

And in the wors, if marriage breaks, then you lose money and time and you will be screwed. So in summary, it is a very risky game for people who come here as a tourist or some sort of visa. Very few will make it by percentagewise. Just my opinion.

To be honest, I agree with you in certain cases. I've met a lot of women, especially older, who have gotten married to men who they barely seem to like just for the GC. They've done NOTHING to contribute to society, they have nothing to offer, yet they think they're special because they're here legally. Their only "effort" or "talent"? Marrying a bald, old, fat dude for papers.

If you're American and travel to some countries you automatically become "more attractive". Everyone wants to marry you, and a lot of people who otherwise get none fall for it. Not to mention stuff like "mail order brides". They sell their _____ in exchange to come here. They receive their GC's at the airport, come on now...

When a relationship is legitimate, sure, it's great to live here peacefully and legally with your spouse. The problem is that a LOT of people that I know personally get married to any Tom, Dick, or Harry just for a GC. That annoys me because some people have come here and worked their a$$es off and don't have a pathway to legalization.
