In the span of our lifetime people will be calling you different names and label. Its up to us to decide whether to cry in the corner asking to change a word or to stand up and be stronger by not letting words degrade us. People asking the word "illegal" to be changed are too sensitive and therefore a perfect target for the antis.

The terms "alien" and "immigrant" are not exactly interchangeable but "immigrant" is perceived as having a more positive connotation than "alien".

If you look for the word "alien" in the dictionary, you will find that an alien is something from outer space or which doesn't belong. Of course some people may claim that the undocumented immigrants do not belong in the US. However, the term alien is so strong that when is used it is assumed someone who doesn't even belong to the human race which might be hostile to any actual person. This is the same reason why hate groups use that term instead of a more correct one which would be "undocumented immigrants". This reflects the "PERSON" who is undocumented lacks ONLY one thing and that is proper documentation.

Either way, I understand why some people want to use the most offensive term they can find. They will blame their problems on the ones that can't fight back. Many of them use the term "illegal" as a cover up to express their racism and intolerance.

I also know that in Australia these words would not be acceptable because of the negative connotations. Those who use them would risk being called a “racist”.

Anyhow, now I will stop hijacking the thread.

Maybe if MLK was still alive, perhaps the DREAM Act would have passed. I think we should seriously consider that theory.

Stand up and be strong by allowing others to offend us? In my opinion that is the easy way to go by. I ask you again, do you not consider yourself worthy?

Getting butt hurt over others' offenses is uniquely American and pretty childish in my opinion; lay a hand on me, and yeah....I'll show you worthy.

And please, do not use the word "ILLEGAL". Yes, I am calling you out! That word replaces human dignity with criminality. According to the existing law, undocumented presence within the borders of the United States is NOT a crime (I won't cite sources here; do your own damn research). Labeling someone who is not committing a crime can get you sued for libel under the Defamation, Libel and Slander Law.
Yes,

you will find that cases are won almost all the time based on the First Amendment. You can even have signs that say "Thank God that you are dead" at soldier's funerals, you have follow a specific way of doing it but you can still do it.

Remember those people who called AZ's SB1070 racist? (many of us in here also) According to your logic then, they all should be sued right? Remember the white Russian Dreamer from Michigan? (it was in the news) If he was caught in AZ, he would be treated differently somehow (compared with, say a Mexican Dreamer)? If that actually happened then indeed, SB1070 is racist, or else sue sue sue, according to you. There were so many people calling SB1070 racist, it was ridiculous.
