I wouldn't go as far as to generalize that THIS COUNTRY does not give a shit about us. I think Durbin cares. Our professors care about us. Many of my friends who are citizens care about me. They do the best that they can to help me out. So, I don't agree with the argument that nobody gives a shit. Some, if not many, people do care. I know many Americans who do care. There is just so much that they can do. I disagree with you Hewlett. You are truly dead inside--as you say. I don't know the type of Americans you talk to, but many do care in my community. They have helped me more than my relatives. Water has proven itself to be thicker than blood in my case. I wish you luck.

I still think anything can happen.

Australia huh...No wonder the negativity since you are now out of the country. Good for you man. Good luck in Australia. I actually do have a life, a good one compared to the average dreamer (won't brag or get into details about it) and won't waste my time here arguing all day. All of a sudden you refuse to hear good news about the Dream Act because it won't benefit you. Typical selfish shitbag.

He'll suggest we all just live our lives in hopeless shadows.

Being negative and giving up will not help. Being negative and trying don't go together either. Be hopeful and try yet be prepared for anything.

The anger and frustration h3wlett is displaying is very understandable and im sure we can all relate to one point or another. A lot of us are at our breaking point. Many of us have been waiting for far too long to start our careers and our future. However, we have to keep hope. Not forever but to wait and see what happens with this piece of legislation.

Personally, I am not waiting beyond this year. Whatever happens this year, that will be it for me.

Now Dems, need to get of their ass and help pass this legislation. This is our livelihood they are messing with. If the only way to pass DA is with a temporary immigrant visa so be it.
I really don't like how you think the Democrats have to get off their ass and help with the bill... The whole point of this bill is that it is Republican and doesn't tarnish Republican reputation. Do you think they will let the Democrats help? Yeah right, and furthermore the only thing Democrats can do is agree with it, but the whole reason there are two parties is because they don't agree. Obviously the Democrats aren't sitting on their ass if they have been pushing the Dream act since 2001. Why are so many of you so inconsiderate? Why don't you get mad at the Republicans for disagreeing with the original Dream act? Oh wait you do. Why can't we just let them deal with the politics and all we have to do is make sure they know what we want. What do we want? Relief. When do we want it? Yesterday.

You said it: relief. BUT, it doesn't have to be the original DA. HENCE, DEMS NEED TO GET OFF THEIR ASSES TO HELP WITH THE BILL because some have implied rejection of anything that does not include a path to citizenship. That's the problem here. Rubio's IDEA does not include a path. But, what he intends to advocate does not bar us from citizenship. To this point, that's fair. It would bring us out of the shadows and allow us to continue on with our lives. We could apply for residency and eventually citizenship if we wanted to. Again, DEMS NEED TO GET OF THEIR ASSES AND HELP RUBIO WITH HIS UPCOMING BILL, for it is possible that it could gain traction among the GOP.

Someone just get something done. Both sides have fucked up in their own ways. But, let's focus on pressuring for something to get done. Let's try to prevent either side from fucking up again. This is a golden opportunity. Rubio's idea is getting alot of attention. Let's try to take advantage of it.
