Agreed, the problem here is that future adjustment could be an issue if California decided to share such information with the Federal government.Don't know if they currently do concerning this program though.
The key word is ”medical”. Its not like its for recreational use. Although you can make anything up and they will give you the card.

It is not illegal if it is being consumed in California. For instance i read an article where an 18 year old boy had sex with his 17 year old g/f at a party. The girls parents found out because it was videotaped (with both of their consent of course). The girl's parents sued this young man for statutory rape against their daughter. The young man was in (i believe) his mid 20's before he was finally released from jail. That happened in Georgia.

In Florida the legal age of consent is 16. This means a girl or boy at 16 years of age can legally engage in sexual activities with anyone 22 years or younger (its 23 for 17 year olds).

Im bringing this up because from what u are saying, the federal government can undermine a state law. In other words u are saying if u are 19 and visit Florida for spring break, and have sex with a girl who is 17 (perfectly legal) u would be engaging in an illegal activity in the eyes of the federal government? That's complete nonsense. If u get medical marijuana card, then u can legally consume marijuana in the state of California. If u do so in any other state, then u do so at ur own peril. In Cali, its legal as long as u have the card.

That's a negative. I had my medical card, and I adjusted through marriage. CA does not share the info with the FEDS. I made sure to find out.

That's correct, they don't purposely share data with the Feds, but clubs get raided ALL the time and their databases become a main target. You live in California... weed is already super easy to obtain. Even if you have possession of a reasonable amount, cops will at most just give you a ticket. I wouldn't risk it.

Lol "Medical",It doesn't make a difference under the laws of the Federal government concerning usage.

I'm assuming you have never heard the numerous stories of Canadians trying to come into the US being barred permanently just by admission of using "Medical" marijuana?
Quote:
My answers to these questions are this: The US is accumulating data on every single person in every possible way and follows their own rules, ignoring any rights we think we might have. That medical marijuana is legal in California has no relevance to them. There is no distinction between marijuana use and heroin addiction to them. Nor is there any distinction between a medical user and a street drug dealer. I was now declared criminally ill despite being legal in every inch of Canada and did not commit any offence on US soil. It has been three months since this has happened, and I am still traumatized by the entire experience but at least able to talk about it.

For you and anyone you know planning on going to the US, I have learned through other media releases and testimonials that people are even being banned for having admitted to trying marijuana (or any drugs) in their past. This is known as “retroactive punishment” and about as unconstitutional as you can get. So if you are ill and on medically prescribed drugs, don’t mention it. If you are asked if you have ever done any drugs in your life, say no.
Just sayin'....

All the fun in this thread has been sucked dry.

If i smoked pot, and lived in Cali i would get a medical marijuana card. If im gonna smoke pot anyways, then i might as well smoke it LEGALLY in the state of California.

Ultimately, it is your choice. For me living on the fringe of another legal issue is too much. I'd rather worry about become a PR. It is legal in California, but not legal in the US. Do you really want to take the chance of getting caught and not being able to naturalize? I wouldn't. It is a moral gray area. It is your choice. My answer would be no.

Drug's is a state and not a national issue. If u get stopped in Cali with pot in ur car, and u show them ur medical marijuana license. Guess what? The cop will not arrest u for it, heck he wont even ask u a question.
