A good tip is that the instructor needs to see your eyes if you are scanning the roadway. I would not recommend wearing sunglasses. They want to see what you are doing.

I did since I don't usually drive without my stunna shades protecting my eye sockets from the vicious sun. The examiner was okay with it.

Yeah... but it is best not to wear one. Even when they don't say anything... they want to see you are Scanning and looking. Trust me... that's an inside tip from a DMV employee.

I asked the examiner and she said it was fine to wear my sunglasses. Yes, they do make sure you are scanning but it seems to me they do so by noting your head movements. They don't directly look at your face or eyes. If the examiner gives the okay to wear sunglasses, I don't see (pun intended) what the issue is Just make sure to ask first.

I just took my driving test last week, passed! Been driving for 10 years thought. My tips based on my experience: take a smaller car, parallel parking is way easier, I did it with a mini van and I had to re adjust myself a few times, also I dont know different states, but in my state, they allow you to pull in and out and readjust several times and up to 5 minutes I think so don't get to hung up on getting it perfect, if you dont lose many other points elsewhere you can still not pass the parallel parking and pass the driving test, but of course it's always better to pass it. Always signal pulling over to the side of road and pulling out of side of road, something I dont do consistently in everyday driving but is a must in the driver exam. Always look over your shoulder for your blind spot when changing lanes on top of looking at your mirrors. Always put your emergency brake on when parked and know what direction to turn your wheels when on a hill with and without a curb. Ask friends what locations seem to have friendlier staff, I know that they all have to test you the same but having a friendly examiner helps with the nerves.

Haha, you are trying to make it as casual as possible, huh? Probably a negative on that one. I presume they want you to hear their directions clearly without any distractions.

One last questions akkiano. Do wee need both hands on the steering wheel? I am so use to driving with one hand on the steering wheel so i want to make sure i wont get penalized. Plus, i don't have time to read over 100 pages of the study booklet. Thanks.
