You know what's funny? I've been getting those letters every year for the past 8 years, and not once, has an employer mentioned it to me. Be it a large chain, or a local store. I always thought they never got those letters.

me too! The only big chain i've worked in was target, but I didn't stay long enough for them to say anything. Then our bosses do know! I've never heard of anybody getting fired because of one of those letters. maybe they're scared of getting in trouble for knowing we are(were) illegal! hmm...

Yeah, it's extremely odd that not once have any of them brought it up? I've never even heard of it being brought up with someone else. I suspect employers don't get those letters. It's basically saying that person is not allowed to work. Why wouldn't they bring it up?

They will definitely ask you why are you getting a new social. You can come up with a well thought out lie and or explanation.

Talking about being a dreamer with your employer shouldn't be taboo it's a reality that our country has come to face, which is why it's currently on the table for discussion among democrats and republicans. This is the reality, there's no lying or showcasing a different side of reality without standing by the truth of the evidence. That is, that we are undocumented, albeit, in the course since the frame of things have changed, given DACA and other similarly Dream Act referred bills. It must be the only way to talk about our case, and how now because of this new law granting us permission to work and drive in the country we nearly grew accustomed with, should be okay to address ourselves openly be it, employeers, etc. And explain to them sincerly, how far we've come and expect a hand to welcome us through the "new door", so to speak, now that we've made it. Don't be a coward, the least any of us could do know is move faithfully to who we are to become, now that we've all shared and endured the same pains.

i just changed mine at work, told them i was victim of idenitity theft and blah blah and also i printed out some pages from the ssa website where it says that if u are victim of identty theft you can change your number, therefore you can't use the old one, and it worked im glad i get to stay at my job cuz i like it here

I'm facing the same dilemma. I'm making over $16.50/hr and I like what I do. I don't wanna risk getting fired

But now that I know Obama won, I am going to try and look for other job opportunities that way when I show them the real IDs, if they fire me ill have other options.

Still scared though $16.50+/hr is a lot to risk
