She can simply explain that. Of course it matters who pays them.

Its like saying a baby spends 500 dollars a month for diapers and food when its oviously his/her parents expense not the baby.
Yeah, but to be honest this what I found confusing about the sheet and probably is because I should have put how financial aid and the IRS deal with you as you get older.
I'm over 25 so I am not in my parents taxes so they can't claim me as dependent and they can claim the money I borrow from them or they give me on their taxes.
So, I put what I made. But, is different from what I actually spend. I close the gap by borrowing money and scholarships, contract jobs and cash jobs here and there. I didn't put crazy amounts, and now I feel I put really low amounts. So, I worry about that.

Get your story straight.
I dont have expences that I should claim credit for. My father pays for my tuition. Should I take credit for his hard earned money? My husband takes care of my personal needs: food, clothes and toilet paper. Therefore I dont have any expenses. Should I take credit of his money? I dont spend money on my needs at the moment. I had a job but not when i had the baby as day care is super expensive i'd be working for someone else to take care of my kid. If every expense you generate is credited to you even if somone pays for it then children and spouses should self file taxes with 0 income and x amount of expenses and who ever does pay for your needs should not be refunded or given credit. does that make sense to you? According to your world, yes.

We're taking this a little to far but I can see why it would be RFE'd. Im sure its probably something stupid and very simple to fix. It might have not been an issue for one officer but for one it might have.

Im sure you can explain it. Im sure they wont look at IRS records either.

I put:
$0 income
$0 expenses

And I explained who takes care of my essesntial needs. Like food and stuff and how it is important for me to work legaly so I can support myself in the future and not live under the EXPENSE of others since I am actually spending $0 on myself because I have $0 income.

This makes me feel better. I think is just luck and random selection of people. Just to check for fraud. Let us know what the RFE says plz.

I think they are asking how much do you spend/need to spend and not how much you are worth. Of course someone might cost their parents near 400,000 their entire lifetime, but you are not gonna divide that by the age and divide that by 12. They are asking how much do you spend personally especially this recent year. Let's say I pay for my part of my family's cell plan, my own transportation, my clothes, recreation, plus little things here and there i help my parents out. I think that is the best way for someone with hardly any income. They see you have that many expenses (personal) but insufficient income to cover not even half of that. How can you survive with those expenses hanging over your head? Obviously those become your parent's expenses or you would be in the streets otherwise. Then you need to write a detailed explanation why you have those expenses. Just be honest and clear.

No one's saying to take credit for their money. You aren't going to write down an income that you don't earn. I am talking about the EXPENSES. You generate those expenses. Your husband is paying for YOUR food, YOUR clothes, YOUR shelter. What do those things make up? Your expenses. Who's expenses? Your expenses.

I can't make it any clearer.

OP, that is the first time that I hear of that occurring, I put about $17,000 for my expenses and $0 for income and I did explain that my expenses have been covered by scholarships and my parents. Just wait and see what the letter says, it will be interesting to see what they are asking. Seems to me like it might be a mistake?

My guess is since she didn't write down anything on the Additional Information part, they want to know what her expenses are.

yeah I think so too, I added a lot of school bills for my evidence to let them know I do have expenses that need to be paid. But if she left it blank, its really anyones guess and probably gonna require her to send them some bills showing those expenses. But who really knows, this is probably the first RFE on the 765 forms
