I believe you have to be a US Person to work for the Federal Government.
US Person is a USC, LPR or person born in the protected territories. The rest are foreign person's.

I have an engineering background so I know all about Security Clearances. Unfortunately is not impossible for someone with a permit to get a Secret clearance is very VERY very VERY rare and difficult. You have to meet very strict criteria and be among the top 0.5% of your field of study.

You can work for a federal contractor and not be a USC or LPR, but you have to search and search for a job where they only require Work Authorization and those are quickly taken.

I found a couple positions with defense contractors doing non-Federal Contract work so I don't have to meet ITAR requirements, but those are still a long shot, fortunately they require work authorization without sponsorship so I guess that gives me a leg up.

Yup it's crazy. Lucky mofo's lmfao jk jk

Ohhh yea I still call everyone a brah but i guess i'll say girlfrien!

A friend of mine was approved yesterday he did his bios a day after me. Not that it matters though with the whole 90 day thing being a myth and what not.

I decided to just not check my status anymore it'll only hurt more. </3

When did you apply for your job? I am in an engineering field and a lot of entry level jobs require security clearance too. It is hard to find a job at the end of year that doesn't requires citizenship.

I applied about a month before they called me for an interview. There's a lot of recent grats that just send their resume in desperation even know they don't qualify and I think that's really slowing things down. I'm still getting calls for job applications I did about 2 months ago :/

Just keep looking and keep sending your resume...In my experience about 90% of the applications I sent that included a cover letter and a resume catered for that job gave me a call. So spend the 30 minutes and make a cover letter and change your resume to target that specific job and it will pay wonders. I was usually spending my Mondays and Tuesday all day just sending applications, but all the hard work pays off when you start getting those calls. Make sure you do a practice interview with a friend or family member, it really helps!

Good Luck!

Just curious what major do you have? I keep getting rejection letters lately, i guess i will need to rewrite my resume and cover letters now.

I have an MIS, most of the jobs I applied for where Sr. positions. I would assume the entry and Jr. positions would be more competitive. Right now I think you need to get some experience, especially if you're a student or recent grad. Once you get your first 2-3 years of work experience, job hunting is A LOT easier.
