yup a copy of my passport and EAD and said the same thing that they'll have to mail it in to get verified.

Yeah they told me the same after 2 weeks. But I'm going tomorrow and ask for more details. I want to know why is it that they need to send a copy instead of faxing. I try to call but it's impossible to get to someone to speak with me.

I will. The same thing I said. I dont understand why they need verification. My sisters went thru fine and now I'm running into this problem.

Hmm, i went to apply today and the lady told me i should receive my card in 3-5 days.

It's been 2 weeks since my brothers applied for SS # (after 7 days of approval; with BC & EAD card) and they haven't received their card yet ( a caucasian guy attended both of them without giving any receipt/letter. My mother asked if they can have a printout after it is verified and the guy said "NO") . They applied 1 day before I did, but I was attended by an African-American guy. I got my card last week Friday. So they went to the local office and the lady (latin; very nice) attended my older brother, first. She checked the record and no number has been issued yet, she talked to the other staff and said how do you process it because he is a "suspect" (what the heck! "Suspect"?! --he has a very clean record, both passed background check; is this some kind of code for DACA beneficiaries by haters to hold them up). The other lady said, is that a "DACA" so my brother said "yes" . So the 2nd staff instructed the other employee how to proceed, and she asked for another ID with the bdate. She said to call on Wed to check if there's a number for him already so he can come back and get a printout. BTW, that ass**** guy was on vacation last week and didn't call my brothers before his vacation if there's a need for more identification. So my advice is try to get a printout after 2 days (if u waited 7-10 days before applying for ss) & not wait for two or more weeks 'coz you may be waiting for nothing in the mail -- just to make sure or to verify the status of your application too.

Anyways the guy told me i can use that to take it to the dmv to get a temporary license till i verified and a ssn. I know it won't work but I'll give it a shot.

hey i am in the same position. I applied on 11/27 and they made copies of my documents and they said they had to mail it to california and it was going to take up to 4weeks. i called today 12/18/12 and they said it is still pending. This is so frustrating because i am just ready to get everything over with. Please keep me updated

I actually received my ssn card on Monday (12/17). Funny thing is that I had called them on the morning, before checking my mailbox, and they told me that my application was still pending.
