I stand by what I said before: if someone has to ask themselves if it's bad, it's bad. We're not telling the OP to call 911, we told her to contact organizations. Calling 911 wouldn't do anything, they don't investigate what s/he is claiming is going on.

They don't investigate what she is claiming??????????? r u serious? she is alleging abuse and wants to sue for unpaid work. Both of which are serious offenses and you say they wont investigate? Look i am not saying to report or not to report. All i am saying is I don't really know whats going on so I won't give her advise but i hope she proceeds in a responsible manner. Everyone is entitle to their opinion.

My coward self has won and I've decided to just wait it out (if hopefully I get approved).

She does pay me wages but it is way below the minimum livable wage, She never set a clock in clock out time so it's all unclear, she does provide my boarding, I basically work for 13-15 hours a day (No overtime), She deducts SSN, medicare, and federal taxes off my salary (Since I am on a payroll with an iTIN, she told me that I'll be able to avail it when I get SSN) . She did made us sign a "release of liability" letter stating that if somebody is injured in a job (highly likely) and that if there's a complaint about the services given, that it will be our sole responsibility and not the management which I think is unfair, since we should be working as a team. I talked to her about it and threaten to take it to a lawyer which then prompt her to just forget about it. (I will scan the letter if anybody is interested).

There was once an employee who sued her for firing her (Illegal also) and won. The company at that time was at the brink of closure yet she managed to circumvent the law by filing bunkruptcy and transferring the "ownership" to her son. She even told me (chitchat) that she reported the illegal employee to the DHS yet the DHS didn't do anything since the employee wasn't doing anything wrong.

I know this might be more of a case of mismanagement but I still want to educate myself as to which avenues of action are available to me (considering that I am illegal).

I really appreciate all the responses.

Thanks for providing more detailed explanation. Honestly sometimes some things are not worth losing your precious time and energy over. Since you waited this long and applied for daca, I suggest to prepare your exit now by saving a little. Once you have your social, bow out graciously and go start off fresh somewhere far from her. Now some people will disagree with me and say go to lawyers, court and bla bla bla but it's really not worth it. Good luck, it'll get better someday.

Nope, because the police will refer to the department of labor to investigate all the details of it. But anyway, OP, I don't think you're being a coward by not reporting it now or later, the point is to report it. And covering and saving yourself trouble is completely okay, I'd say its even smart.

Plus, I mean, this isn't anything a community organization wouldn't have told you too. Not harming your own chances is a priority too, protecting the whistleblower is essential, otherwise no one would come forward. It's obvious this owner knows what "to do" to avoid paying for her/his crime, so it's best to be smarter.

She really does, what she have done to circumvent the overtime pay is to put overtime pay on the payroll sheet that we receive but at the same time charges us for food and boarding. It's so unfair considering how we're doing good to the community yet not being compensated enough and most even feeling harassed and insulted. What surprises me is that 60% of her worker is legal and are afraid of complaining.

Well i don't blame them if they're not complaining either, finding a job even with an EAD can be hard.

Sorry OP, but I think you are being a coward. By not reporting her you are enabling her to continue her dirty practice. Not just think of you but of all the people she is taking advantage of.
