MAJOR UPDATE (cross-posted on discussion board):

We have made the decision that eight of us are going to be flying to Washington, DC on Monday. Acting on Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's invitation, we will be lobbying for both the Gomez family's private bill and the DREAM Act.

Financially: WE ARE ASKING FOR AS MUCH SUPPORT AS WE CAN GET.

***mod edit juang*** I can't let you ask for money in this forum without knowing that the site administrator approved it. The information edited will be put back once I know Nick agrees with all this.

these guys really mean business, makes me feel bad i don't do more lol.

One thing i was thinking about was a huge march lol i dont really support marches but what if all the marchers were white??? then people can't say oh all those marching are illegal anyways they are not real americans blah blah blah what do you guys think?
yes what if all the marchers were white? what would that change? this is not a race issue, it's strictly an immigration issue. why do ppl assume that as long as you're white, you have no social problems and you get first class treatment in every aspect of society?

This is not a race issue?? i beg to differ and the reason why i suggested what i said was that when people saw those marches on tv they automatically assume if you are brown skinned and were matching you were an illegal alien so even though there was a lot of support from citizens and legal residents, the anti immigration crowd twisted it to look like all those marching were undocumented they dont have a right to march in our street and demand things. I didn't say anything about if you are white you have no social problems blah blah i didnt mean to imply that but in my opinion if the majority of the people in the country illegally spoke english as a first language and were white majority of those opposed now would not be acting the way they are now.

no one here is assuming anything about anyone. but in America, we all know what the illegal profile is: latino. even if it were only black marchers (i am black by the way) that would throw some people off about the argument that we jumped fences and steal jobs (i came via airplane and pay for my tuition) or my favorite: THE ALIENS ARE MARCHING AGAIN, HOW DARE THEY, THIS IS OUR COUNTRY, GO HOME....
no one said that whites get better treatment but they are the least ones to be expected to be illegals, thus deported followed by blacks then Asians and all latinos must be illegals (that's life, we deal with it).
we need to stop being petty and work TOGETHER because we all share one thing: WE AIN'T GOT NO PAPERS. that comes above our color here.

Cubans get amnesty. I think I saw this kid on an mtv show called "higschool stories", the kid in highschool stories was colombian, his name was juan, and he lived in florida. the story was that he got suspended for putting a colombioan flag on his backpack.

I'm sorry but do you have any idea how many Colombian kids named Juan are living in South FL?
