Leaning to drive... - Page 3

I am so happy right now! After my very horrible first experience yesterday (and did I mention I am from Miami so traffic and drivers here are crazyyyyy!) I had a great day today!

My bro-in law rented a Fiat for the weekend and I drove around in that today. Now before you all laugh and say well of course it was easy it's so tiny! So was the instructor's car!

Yesterday I kept feeling like I didn't have control of the car. Since she had a break on her side, she kept using it and the car wouldn't accelerate or break like I wanted it to. It wasn't reacting to me, it was being controlled by her. I wasn't able to gauge when to stop or start. So when I would turn it was all wrong. When I had practiced before which wasn't more than an hour if I add all the times together, I never had a problem with curves and turns. And today I did everything fine. I went out into the street again and I was fine. I was a little nervous but I felt like I had full control. I stopped and accelerated just fine. It was a dream!

What a relief! I came home yesterday feeling so dumb! Needless to say, I am canceling my appointment for next weekend. I'll continue practicing in the car I will be driving, which is an Accord with my brother in law on the weekends. When I feel ready (which I feel will be soon) I'll take a final lesson where I can practice the actual driving test.

Practice, practice, practice will be the most important thing. I'm looking forward to having the freedom to come and go as I please instead of waiting for someone to take me. That's my biggest push. FREEDOM! I'll keep you guys posted. I wish you all the best of luck! Please keep us posted on your progress! I am so excited for all of us going through this. It's only a matter of time before this is one more thing we conquer!

Are your test on the street or on like a parking lot circuit type of setting? In CA they are on the street.
