Not anymore, but many people used it as a form of identification before DACA.

Oh ok...I though it was required for some reason. I think I have mine but it expired I think a year after I arrived here...13 years ago.

I don't mean to sound rude or anything. I'm very interested in linguistics, so this comment caught my attention. How old were you when you came to the United States, and did your parents speak to you in English mostly while growing up? What do you mean by saying your Spanish "sucks"?

And yes, I agree they treated me as if they were doing me a favor and as if I were stupid.

I was brought to this country when I was two almost three years old. My parents only speak Spanish, and my Spanish was worse before I've been working at a law firm for almost four years and I translate here so it is a lot better but still not "Mexican" Spanish like what the speak at the consulate. I guess my Spanish is "Spanglish" which is what I mean when I say it sucks.
