I truly hope she suffers from affluenza. That way, she could totally get away with it.

This article leaves out a lot of details..I mean was the leaf pile in the middle of the street? Did it happen it broad daylight? Where were the girls parents? I mean arent leaf piles usually within your property line. Did this girl go out of her way to drive over a leaf pile because she thought it be funny( kind of like when people drive over puddles to get someone walking in the side walk wet) or what? Anybody has more details? I guess the main message here for everyone here is dont fucking leave the scene of an accident...

From what's been in the news it sounds like it was a freak accident. The girls had been playing in the leaves in their front yard and their dad was taking pictures of them. He went inside to put the camera away and was gone for only a couple of minutes.

It is believed that the girls may have decided to hide in a pile of leaves near the curb to scare their dad by jumping out of the pile when he returned. In those two minutes Cisneros was returning to her house with her boyfriend and little brother from a food run and probably thought it would be funny to drive over the pile of leaves not knowing there were two little girls hiding there.

This happened back in October, I think in the evening so it wasn't completely dark out but not totally light out either. Cisneros later said she felt a bump but didn't know what she had hit. However once her little brother told her she may have hit two kids she did not return to the scene and her boyfriend took the SUV (which happened to be his mother's) to a car wash so he got in trouble for that.

Cisneros was facing 3 years in jail but it is believed that she got three years probation and community service in large part because the two mothers of the sisters forgave her in court, they believe it was an accident and didn't want to ruin more lives over this (bless their generous hearts).
Last I heard though Cisneros is in ICE custody in Tacoma, WA so who knows if she'll be able to get out of deportation.

So like MalditoDuende said DON'T LEAVE THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT, even if you're scared, leaving will only make it worse and TAKE DRIVING SERIOUSLY!

Dam, this will definitively hurt the Dreamer's cause. As if getting any traction for the dreamer movement wasn't hard enough. Right here in PDX too, where there was a movement to get licenses for undocumented. I guess it may be a lost cause now.

Unfortunate as this may be, thousands of fatal accidents occur yearly; It was just a matter of time before one involved a dreamer. Young people do stupid stuff all of the time and being undocumented is no exception. While I question the intent in this story, I think any teenager could've came up with the idea of running over a pile of leaves for fun. The sad part of the story is that apparently she decided to hide the fact that she potentially ran over someone and left the scene.

The family has my sympathies. Unless you keep your kids tied to the bed 24/7 there's only so much protection you can give them.

Not mine, its your job to protect your kids as they no better. These kids had no idea this ex dreamer was going to run over them. But you know who did or at the very least should have thought about it? Their parents. As a parent, its your job to worry about all those, "what ifs" and to try to foresee some danger. Ive talked to a lot of people about this accident, the majority of them agree that the family is 50% at fault here if not 100%. Not all drivers are precautions as others. These girls parents should have thought about people driving over those leafs. Ive seen lots of people drive just right through piles of leafs, they just don't care at all. Knowing this, whenever I see a pile of leafs when I am taking walks, I ask if anyone is there.

As a parent I have never let kids play on the street, mine or others'. While I can't blame the parents entirely for this tragedy, my personal opinion is that they're at least partially responsible for it.
