Yesterday I received an email from my firm's visa and immigration team asking for the source of my EAD so that they can "update their database" and asked whether I needed visa assistance. I told them that it was granted via DACA and I am expecting to receive a renewal within the next month or 2. The person replied with a simple thanks. Hopefully this is the last I hear from them on this.

Just don't be surprised if they fired you because of DACA since they legally can.

I sincerely hope not. They sponsor plenty of H1b's and I am sure have seen plenty of EAD lapses. They have already invested thousands of dollars in me and any hiring or firing decisions would have to go through partners or managers.

Yeah would be a waste to fired because of Daca considering how much they've spent on you

Yes they can rescind your offer based on your DACA status if they do not want to sponsor new hires. It should be in the job application indicating that they do not hire people requiring sponsorship.

This happens a lot in the Engineering field. You need to tell the hiring manager during the interview (after interview if he liked you) or you will just waste time.

HR will find out and rescind your offer.

Happened to me. I spoke out, managers helped me and I am an employee now.

Do you know of someone who was fired because of this? They can't legally do that. Please provide a source claiming that by law they can fire you because you have DACA. It is ironic because DACA itself is not a law. A work permit is a work permit. It does not matter how you got the work permit. Unless it is a federal job that requires you to be a U.S. Citizen, you are eligible for any job and denial because of "DACA" would constitute as discrimination.

But DACA status does not require sponsorship. Why would you be denied an offer unless the HR department is clueless and mistake a DACA recipient as one requiring sponsorship?

They can't legally fire you due to immigration status..... Says it right on your paperwork when filling out your tax info for a job.

That letter only mentions DACA recipients can be singled out in the hiring process only. I would sue the shit out of the employer for firing me because I was authorized a work permit because of DACA. Even then the whole thing just seems very bizarre and unrealistic. Who is that person you know who got fired? A smart applicant will know how to deal with this and fully explain to the hiring manager SHOULD the question come up. But once you're hired, it is not their business what your immigration status. Yeah if they tell you up front we only want USC and Green card holders for this job, that's fine. I had a recruiter call me and ask me straight up if I don't have a GC, he can't do anything.
