Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) met with House Democrats. Fox is told Durbin told them that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is “scared to death” of the President and Senate R’s are trying to run air cover for Ryan from his right flank

Trump morning tweets:

1. Democrats are far more concerned with Illegal Immigrants than they are with our great Military or Safety at our dangerous Southern Border. They could have easily made a deal but decided to play Shutdown politics instead. #WeNeedMoreRepublicansIn18 in order to power through mess!

2. This is the One Year Anniversary of my Presidency and the Democrats wanted to give me a nice present. #DemocratShutdown

3, For those asking, the Republicans only have 51 votes in the Senate, and they need 60. That is why we need to win more Republicans in 2018 Election! We can then be even tougher on Crime (and Border), and even better to our Military & Veterans!

4. #AMERICA FIRST!

5. Democrats are holding our Military hostage over their desire to have unchecked illegal immigration. Can’t let that happen!

One challenge for House Rs: Schumer isn’t a very well known national figure. DC powerhouse but lacks the president’s global celebrity. “We want Schumer shutdown to catch on,” one R tells me, seemingly unconvinced the party will succeed

Getting a vote in the Senate means nothing for us.
He's all fluff, they put a bill in front of him, any bill, and he will sign as long as the cameras are there without even reading the damn thing.

The previous shutdown under Obama was 16 days.

On Jan 30th Trump has to address the state of the union. Hopefully it will lasts until than.

We are far from a deal with the idiot. He is pissed he couldn't go to Mar-a-lago today and attend his $100k per ticket party

Don't think it will last that long. No way Trump stands in front of the nation says Our State of the Union is Shut Down, and tries to blame Democrats... IF that were to happen Democrats can keep the Gov shut down for as long as they want and blow GOP out of the waters in 2018. I think it will resolve within the 7-12 day period. I guess we have 10 days until SOU, soo under 10...

Hopefully Dems won't budge. I don't trust republicans. There is a lot of hate towards us in their tweets. They keep calling us illegals.

Sometimes I think it’s hate, but they’re just trying to shift blame. Republicans don’t give a damn about Americans, legal or illegal.

No need to wait till February 8. They can agree on something before the state of the union. 10 days is enough.
