This is the way I see it, both parties are going to need each other in 2009 in order to get any immigration reform or the Dream act passed. Even if Obama become president their are Democrats in both the House and Senate who had view on immigration like Senator Jeff Sessions. So Obama becoming president is just a plus to all this immigration debate its not a guarantee immigration reform going to pass under his presidency, we are going to need Republicans to get this done.

ummm......Ben Nelson supports the DREAM Act. He's like Orrin Hatch (the other main sponsor of DREAM ) He is a strong opponent of CIR (aka legalizing adults) but he isn't opposed to legalizing children who were brought here.

On the hand, there are people such as Jon Kyl who support legalizing adults but think it's too "liberal" to allow children who ended up in this situation through no choice of their own to remain here. Kyl, why don't you move to a country where you don't know anyone, speak, or read in the language and never be allowed to return home? All because of something someone did and then come and tell me how "liberal" that is.

Asshole just doesn't want to screw over the chamber of commerce but kids? He has no problem stepping all over them. If anyone is the cliche corrupt politician, it's this guy.

oh yeah if you're vain enough to Google yourself everyday like Vitter. Buy some sunscreen Kyl, you're taking the redneck look too literally.

I'd take Ben Nelson off the anti list. Not only has he co-sponsored DREAM but he's actually voted for it (ahem, Grassley, Specter, Crapo, you can't have it both ways).

On the pro-list, take off Martinez. He's a waffler when it comes to legalizing kids but adults and the chamber of commerce he'll bend over backwards.

To be honest the only one who should be on that list is Senator Lugar because he's a man of principle. I also don't see Senator Orrin Hatch ditching us anytime soon either in the pro-dream/anti-CIR list either.

Chuck Hagel is retiring but he should have been on that list too and John McCain if he hadn't decided to start this BS about being able to secure the border without implementing a method of satisfying America's labor needs. He knows it's BS just as much as we do.

Ben Nelson of Nebraska is a flip flopper on immigration reform and Dream act!

NELSON: 'I OPPOSE DREAM ACT'

October 24, 2007 - Nebraska’s Senator Ben Nelson today issued the following statement on the DREAM Act, which is being considered in the Senate.

“I do not support the DREAM Act and I will vote against it. I oppose it because it is a piecemeal approach to illegal immigration and I believe border security must be our first priority. I will vote for cloture on this bill to allow the legislation to move forward for an up or down vote.”

Ben Nelson is a toss-up, he probably didn't support it b/c he thought it wasn't going to pass like many other senators did. Why vote for something when you know it will fail? We must remember the dream was brought up in a busy schedule and some of the major supporters weren't there, so why not save face in front of your constituents and not vote for it. Nebraska is pretty conservative.

He support us because he voted for cloture. I am sure he knew if we got the 60 votes to get past the filibuster, then getting a simple majority to pass wouldn't have been a problem even if he voted against it.
