This anti-immigrant sentiment from the administration is not good for DACA/DREAM Act. This administration doesn't see us any differently from other immigrants and throwing other people under the bus is in no way helping the situation. The immigration system is broken here, but making it difficult for other people to become legal in other avenues will not help our situation.
If they don't want to be here, they can go back.

I'm a software engineer who have worked at Amazon and currently working for Microsoft with over 4 years of experience.

I am in the main group that nativists keep claiming is negatively affected by H1-B.

The U.S. tech scene would be nowhere without H1-B.

U.S. workers aren't inherently smarter or more productive than foreign born, but with H1-B we get to pick and choose the best of the foreign workers pool to fill the gaps for U.S. companies to grow.

We have a lot of gaps in the engineers coming out of the American educational system.

Up and down the org charts of both Amazon and Microsoft are filled with leaders who came from outside of U.S, but are now helping both companies to become the biggest companies in the world.

Same story throughout the rest of the tech world.

Same, I have worked at Google and now work at Facebook. There are many PhD H1Bs I know from universities like MIT, Cal, my alma mater Stanford, Harvard, Brown, etc. who have been waiting over a decade for a damn green card. They all live in uncertainty too, they worry the orange clown is going to wake up one day and fuck up their lives. There are no Americans with the skills they have, and certainly no DACA’s since most of our people did not even sniff an undergrad degree. Some people here are clueless to put it in kind words.

Let me also add that all H1Bs I have talked to about DACA throughout the years genuinely care about DACA because they understand our struggle. Some get very upset when they learn what we have gone through.

SPEAKING AS AN INDIAN...

I am sure there are some companies in the Cali, like Google, FB, Amazon, that are benefiting from H1B and hiring top of the top candidates; however, there are a LOT of H1B applications and recipients who are fresh out of college. They come here for Bachelors or Masters, get a job on OPT (look it up) and then work for a "consulting firm" who sends them out to different clients on short term contract bases. These students hope that either the consulting firm or the client would sponsor them.

They are very average people. Anyone with bachelors and Masters could do it. Infact, I know people who have attended 4-6 week classes in SQL, and JAVA etc. and ended up with $60-80K jobs and then started their H1B process. Their education background was Business Admin or marketing. Nothing remotely in the field of work.

I am with the rest of you. I agree with the crack down on H4. Your spouse was sponsored - not you.

Not to mention - Documentation fraud is high. Someone offered to get me a MBA degree from India with 2 years of report cards and final diploma/certificate for $1,500. There is no way for US companies to verify educational background in foreign countries.

Can't believe DACAs protecting H1B

H1B HATE DACAs with zest!

H1Bs will snitch and spit on DACA if they had the chance!

Sure, I support cracking down on companies that abuse the H1-B and using it to circumvent the domestic labor market, but that doesn't mean we should shut down the H1-B completely.

USCIS has also cracked down on a lot of abuses in recent years as well.

H4 EAD is a no-brainer for me. Your spouse should be able to work.

I got banned for saying this last time so will choose my words carefully now. People on here are (thinking of many abusive words....) very liberal and NOT realistic at all.

Yes, H1b people hate "illegals" including DACA recipients.

Bro how many H1-B's have you met?

Every single H1-B I have met have supported DACA.
