I don't even know what's gonna happen anymore. Trump's unhinged.

He changes his mind so often. He's unreasonable. He must have some sort of dementia.

At this point, the best i see for this country is a Trump loss in 2020.

Interesting thread to read:

@leedsgarcia
I truly appreciate the non-political folks calling for a #DACA deal as a route out of the shutdown. It’s VITAL to understand that this admin actually wants that cover in a public convo to mask what they’re actually pushing which is gutting asylum & putting migrant kids in jail 1/

The Pres ended DACA in Sep of 2017, he did it in a passive way cuz DACA is remarkably successful & popular. And then hid behind injunctions of multiple circuit courts that kept some pieces of the program in tact. But in reality his DOJ tried to hop over that in the 5th circuit 2/

That effort to bypass circuits failed as the 5th circuit case is still at the district court level. So then they decided to jump over the 9th & petitioned to SCOTUS anyway (the 9th has since ruled, but there is no circuit court conflict) 3/

This Fri the Supreme Court meets in the morning to decide if they’ll grant the Trump admin’s petition on the DACA case(s). Moral of the story is this admin likes to say they want to solve DACA but they’ve been aggressively trying to HARM DACA recipients in the courts 4 16 mos 5/

At every congressional negotiation over the last 2 yrs they’ve acted like it’s the wall they want, but it’s not. As Dems called that bluff on multiple occasions w/ various forms of border security $. What they wanted was to change asylum, cut legal immigration 40% & jail kids 5/

All of those efforts went no where (WH bills voted down) (WH kills bipartisan deals) - so then they went on an asylum enforcement rampage to manufacture a border crisis - family separation, caravan, remain in Mexico, tear gas etc. This has been to create an issue landscape for 6/

All the policies you see in Nielsen’s powerpoints, Trump’s letters to Congress, etc. it’s never actually about DACA. It’s about their dark desires to close off all elements of immigrating to the US. They want the Supreme Court to say their move on DACA was right so they can 7/

Hide behind the veneer of trying to be constitutional but not seem like the bad guys who harmed Dreamers. And then use the urgency once the court does their dirty work to get back to legal immigration cuts and asylum changes. That’s why... 8/

Me as someone who would normally embrace bipartisanship want folks to be eyes wide open that “DACA/Border” means 3846473 different things depending on whose saying it. I wish it were that simple and direct to fine tune on the edges, but it’s not. And it’s depressing lol. 9/

The question is, which one does Trump think will end his presidency or what's the worst option?

Not getting his wall
or
Legalizing dreamers

Because one or the other is going to happen since dems control the house. To me (perhaps I'm biased) is that legalizing dreamers is much better than not getting his wall. He's going to get slammed regardless but the least worst option for him is to go the dreamer route.

Ways to spin legalizing dreamers:
- "I care about kids, BELIEVE ME. They came here through no fault of their own."
- "The dems call me racist but look what I've done for these DACA people. Most of them are NOT white!"
- "We need workers because there's RECORD LOW EMPLOYMENT including latinos, african americans, asians. This is the best option! Even if we deport these kids, we need foreign workers to fill their place. NOT SMART!"
- lots of boast about how secure the border is now and there will never be a DACA situation again.

Ways to spin of not getting a wall:
????

The problem is Trump would prefer to 'legalize' us but only with renewable DACA and not PR.

Democrats will probably not agree to that.

Of course not, dems rejected it today. See https://twitter.com/sahilkapur/statu...918965249?s=21

Question carried over from the other thread. Did the DACA case go through all of the courts that it needs to go through before reaching the Supreme court?
In any case, let's also get real. This is not want Trump wants. This is what Miller wants. Trump does not really know anything. I just cannot believe that DOT DOT DOT is still in the administration after all of shake ups! We need to get Miller out of there and then there will be a compromise.
