Maybe that’s the approach to get the 5 Billion without the Dreamers.

Unlikely. Dems will say OK let's pass it as it is.

Then Trump will say "wait a second, I want the wall with H1-B", which clearly shows he's using H1-B people to get his wall.

It also goes against the fact that hardline republicans think immigrants will always vote Democrat. Every policy so far brought up by Trump reduces legal immigration for that reason.

Edit: One more thing to note: This is literally taking high paying jobs from Americans. So Trump would rather import foreign workers for the high paying jobs instead of hiring Americans, and want to kick out the immigrants that are doing the jobs Americans don't want to do. ??????

IF you watch his last oval office video, he already switched the narrative of jobs. He said there are now too many jobs and the u.s need more people.

there was a proposal last year for H1B people getting early adjustment in exchange of funding for the wall. there are about a million of them stuck in backlog. they are mostly in good paying jobs and have deep pockets. they can fork out 10-20k each easily and it will fund Drumf wall. Dems are really poor negotiator.

Trump is just talking out of his ass. He doesn't clearly mean it.

Plus, this country DOES need to import high skilled workers because it's not producing enough in it's citizenry.

I can't wait for this shutdown to be over. DACA or no DACA.

Trump has destroyed the GOP and the Senate GOP literally went to the "wall" to appease their maniac leader. Sad.

Oh well, they suck for being his minions

Hmm... so he’s trying to hold H1B visa holders hostage now?

H-1B visas 9 times out of 10 are a stop-gap measure to get through backlog for Indians and Chinese, these guys aren't stuck in legal limbo.

its tricky my friend, Obama increased H1B fees and used some of that for border security. Drumf may propose something like that. also they can allow an early AOS to these people with an increased fees, they wont get GC but EADs and its well within executive authority. they can increase fees by rule making. there was an article on daily caller or axios on that.
then Drumpf wont need congress for his wall. Dems are poor negotiator, if they dont budge dreamers will be left out in limbo if SCOTUS doesnt take the case today.

I figured that Drumpf was looking to axe H-4 derivative visas. Increase fees for H1B. Make some arbitrary rule that makes it harder to AOS and hold them hostage as he tries to get Dems to negotiate
