I don't understand what the article is saying. He's gonna use EO to strike down DACA? How would that validate DACA if it's killed?

Yeah, Idk wtf the writer is trying to say. Trump is better off reaching a deal then trying to use the bitch ass national emergency move when logically Dems will block that.

No trump, keep throwing a wrench into the government. Keep that solid gridlock past feburary and some change for the fireworks and freakouts to happen across all neighborhoods of all races once the foodstamps stop coming in.

I am sure the democrats are going to start singing a different tune! I am sure republicans will gwak at the angered democrat electoral base.

This is not good but is likely whats going to happen IMO; Trump will reopen the government (probably even before next Wed do that he can give his state of the union speech). He will then declare a national emergency to get money for his wall. This will kill all the chances to get something done on daca and the dems will blame the reps as usual.

Exactly. This shutdown is getting too long and eveeybday is one big nightmare for us - I like thr shutdown because of the pressure but also adds more uncertainy.

Did you see what they offered on DACA? Even that was "amnesty" according to Republicans pressuring him to act unilaterally.

There was never a chance on a DACA compromise. You'll have to hedge your bets on SCOTUS keeping it alive long enough for a Democratic president to take the reigns in 2021.

Trump never offered anything approaching a deal. His amnesty was actually just more concessions to him. If this is his so called amnesty I would rather keep DACA.

Keep your garbage deals to yourself unless you want to come to the table with honest and reasonable proposals.

How the hell is Trump going to open the government without an agreement on the budget? If it were as easy as signing an EO, he would have done so in a heartbeat.
This shutdown isn't about him playing the smart politics. This is purely about his ego and his drive to "win". I can't believe we're talking about this after 30 days of shutdown and this much damage has been done.

Because politicians have previously advised him against setting that precedent. I guess the only thing they would hate more than Trump abusing his power (which would be used as an excuse for a future Dem president) would be to give amnesty to us illegals lol.
