Actually, losing DACA is better than codifying it. Living as a resident, paying taxes, but never get a chance to apply for citizenship, never "belong", never be able to freely travel and see the world, that is called "second class citizenry."

Losing DACA will at least set some fire under the asses of Dems and Reps. It is one thing to never give status to undocumented people, it is another thing to give something, take it away, and watch hundreds of thousands of people suffer. That may actually be enough for Reps to come around.

So you’re an all or nothing? You really are willing to put your life in the hands of the politicians who (both sides dems and gop) have done nothing since daca was created before and after?

What if daca did get struck down and politicians couldn’t reach an agreement? What makes you so sure they’ll do something about it?

My personal situation is that, thanks to DACA, I have build up my resume and savings over the past 9-10 years. I am grateful to DACA beyond comprehension. But 10 years later, due to pesky physics of time, one thing I have less of is... time. So, I would like to travel a little (see the beautiful world), go meet my folks, before it's too late.

I hope Congress does something for us this year with complete awareness that it might just be delusional to hope so. If not, then we won't get anything better than status quo in the next 2-3 years, if not longer. And I just don't have that kind of time-savings in my life-bank.

Now, folks who are still in school or have misused DACA for the past 10 years by not leveraging it to build up their strengths, it may just be better to stay put in the United States of America.

Maybe I would agree with you if the House was not going to the GOP but what you are proposing is very high risk. We are not a voting block so losing daca wont light any fires under the GOP but instead give them leverage for harsher immigration policies.

I don't feel second-class and would prefer security above all else. My ultimate goal is not US citizenship but financial independence. I only need 4-5 more years to achieve my financial goals and retire to the island life.
