I was thinking the same.

$495 every 2 yrs x 594,000 (daca population) = $294,030,000/2 = $147,015,000/yr

why would they cut their budget deficit by $147 mil every yr when they can just keep us this way?

just make DACA permanent at least, only wagies/peons would complain about 495$ and besides anybody that is unable to afford that cannot be here in the first place.

I see the point but they make way more from my taxes so cancelling DACA would be stupid.

You’re missing the point. That’s a GUARANTEED 147m a year

And it’s not just daca. Uscis is primarily (97%) funded by users fees
Our taxes probably* contribute more to the IRS but why on earth would would these GOP give up the opportunity to get 147m from a group of people they hate yet secretly want to keep here

* I’m sure we’re all making 500k a year

I am sure they know all this but politics is about putting on an act for the voters... It become like social media where politicians are creating hot takes and outrageous stunts to attract and keep voters. It's sad to watch the degradation of society and values.

President Biden just reestablished the Trump asylum restrictions which is what Republicans have been howling about. Asylum is legal, so I don't know why they keep conflating it with people who already built lives here. Where are Senator Durbin, or the progressives (i.e,Jayapal, etc) in Congress? Anyone read the child labor trafficking and deaths reports on the NYTimes? It's disgusting the abuse farmworkers and their children endure.
