The 5th circuit will rule the same as Hanen and keep the stay on renewals. SCOTUS is where this will be settled. My opinion is that they will rule against the states. Wasn’t there a recent legal victory in SCOTUS stating that the president did have a say in immigration enforcement? Kinda hard to see why they would rule DACA as unconstitutional.

I think it's the work permits.

I think they'll say DACA can stay since thats just deferred action but without the work permits

"The Court, as it did before, hereby stays the effective date of the vacatur as to all DACA recipients who received their initial DACA status prior to July 16, 2021. The defendants may continue to administer the program as to those individuals, and that administration may include processing and granting DACA renewal applications for those individuals," Hanen wrote on Wednesday.

This makes no sense to me. Why not just end the program? All I can say is karma is real… where’s Ken Paxton

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth. It would be nice if we could just accept this outcome as it keeps DACA intact for current recipients.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration says it’s granting temporary legal status to hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans who are already in the country — quickly making them eligible to work — as it grapples with growing numbers of people fleeing the South American country and elsewhere to arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border.

The move — along with promises to accelerate work permits for many migrants — may appease Democratic leaders who have pressured the White House to do more to aid asylum seekers, while also providing grist for Republicans who say the President Joe Biden has been too lax on immigration.

The Homeland Security Department plans to grant Temporary Protected Status to an estimated 472,000 Venezuelans who arrived in the country as of July 31, making it easier for them to get authorization to work in the U.S. That’s been a key demand of Democratic mayors and governors who are struggling to care for an increased number of migrants in their care.

The choice was made to let them stay in the country so they need to be able to work and support themselves in some way. This entire thing reeks of political ineptitude.

I am more interested in the spending bills. Republicans in the House are pushing for their border security bill to be attached and I wonder if anyone in the Senate has the balls to tie it to a DACA or immigration solution.

Venezuelans get TPS but not us Central Americans. I almost feel like they did that because Venezuela has oil.

I think TPS was meant for those that have not gotten asylum already, because otherwise they would have asylum already.
