Thank you so much for sharing your story. Wow I felt the anxiety as I was reading that. It was almost as if your story was a 3-paragraph novel because I was really into it and wanted to know what happened next. You were extremely lucky. I'm really glad you made it back safely. I would've flewn there with my passport like I did when I flew from FL to NJ but you're brave and I admire you for that. That does show that the discrimnation in this country can leave one speechless. Thanks for sharing!

^Actually I think she made the right choice since there are infinitely more CBP agents at the local NYC airport.NJ to Florida isn't also really along the Border. In order to see immigration checkpoints one has to be ~100 miles close to either the Canadian or Mexican border before you see immigration checkpoints. There are also some videos on youtube that people can check out to see if they are real or not.

The states that are seeing an increasing Border patrol presence & checkpoints is upstate New York & Washington State. This is due to the Vancouver & Toronto International airports where most international Canadian legal entrants try to enter the U.S. illegally.

I'm glad you made it ok, even if really shaken. Do you guys think this policy will change a lot under the new DHS?

No, I think if anything, it's just going to get worse. This country lives under too much paranoia and pressure from its citizens because of nationaql security reasons so I doubt that this will change, we need the dream act now before they start knocking at our doors..

Even reading your recount of what happened gave me the chills of what must have been like to be in that situation.

I'm glad that it turned out Ok and that you have your ID!
