Has anyone thought about getting that in the meantime while DACA is delayed? Is it even worth getting it? Will it arrive in time? (sorry for all the questions, but now that I will still be working I need to figure my transportation out)
Hi! I'm thinking of getting mine as well. I'm planning to call DMV after work today to see what's the procedure for my case. I think your current valid license and proof of residency (i.e school, employment) can at least suffice for a temp ID.

While on the topic of licenses, I have a driver's permit that expires along with my EAD on Sept. 29. If I apply under AB-60, would I need to retake the writing test again? It seems pointless to even take the driving test if I have to start all over and do it again eventually.

Sigh.

that location is way strict. I tried walking in at 8. my appt was at 9 and they told me to wait two yrs ago. this year they did let me in 15 mins before.

If you guys go to the Monterey Park one to renew your license later, you can get a license with the normal expiration date. That's where I went, and I got one that expires in 2019.

That would have been sensible and understanding especially as there's already a precedent for it and it is noted in their own guidelines!

I'm also slightly frustrated with Ombudsman's office and other influential orgs who can and should have forced agency to take reasonable steps as it has impacted a large proportion of applicants who filed their applications in a timely manner and have a lot riding on this. Rather, we get the lip service and a whole bunch of uncertainty and random info thrown at us.

Yeah I'm going to try the location off of gulf freeway because I keep hearing the northwest location is very strict. Thank you for letting me know!

133 days and not biometrics...

On a brighter note, I called the USCIS Customer Svc Center, and asked for the "ELIS helpdesk" (the lady pronounced it as E-LISS), was transferred and within 2 minutes had my access code to view my case details online. It shows nothing's happened since 4/20, but at least I can see it.
hey thanks for this info, got my ELIS number finally.

Just got off the phone with DMV. Not a very good call.

The lady was short with me and didn't really understand what I was asking her so I slowed down and explained it.

She said that the AB-60 usually takes about three months to process through Homeland Security so it wouldnt really make sense for me to apply for this.

I explained to her that my license expires the same day as my EAD and that I would like to apply for some kind of licence instead of walking around without any valid form of ID.

Its like at every level of this process I find that there is obstruction after obstruction and people who are so incompetant at their own jobs!

What do i do now?
