How long has it been since you submitted your application for AP?

I applied through a lawyer even though most people here file the application on their own and it is probably something I would also do in the future.

I did have a letter that I wrote stating my reason for my travel and relation to the humanitarian purpose I was seeking. However, my lawyer said that it was not required, so it was never mailed.

I applied for AP for humanitarian purpose and all of my documents were in English, but if your documents were in another language, then yes, you would need to get them translated so it's a smooth application process.

I'm a US citizen and my husband is currently under DACA and also an Ecuadorian. We were thinking of traveling to Ecuador using AP for my husband. Can any one share their experience of traveling to Ecuador and back to the US with AP?

Hey guys, so I used my AP yesterday and I'm back!

I went to Ciudad Juarez for one day for work. I crossed through the Santa Fe International Bridge in downtown El Paso. I was there for one day and came back the same day at night time, walking. I was more terrified leaving than coming back honestly, but it wasn't as bad as I expected.

I was with my boss (who's an immigration attorney), but they took me into an office and they did not let her come in with me. Once inside the office, I was the only one there, they took my AP and my EAD. They did not take my passport or SSN, even though I gave it to them. Right away they took my photo and fingerprints. They asked me nothing about my trip to Mexico at all. They did search my bags, and only things they asked for was my address in the US, name of my parents and their nationality, husband's name and nationality, my DOB and POB, height and weight. They officers were really nice, joking and making conversation. They did ask how I came to the US the first time, to which I replied I didn't remember because I was very young. I was held for two hours, and those whole two hours I was the only one there, and just making casual conversation with the officers. At the end they gave me an I-94, one of my AP documents, stamped, and my EAD back and sent me on my way.

On a side note, my boss was pretty pissed that they didn't let her come in with me because she wanted to see how the processing went so she could prepare other clients.

But for me it was really a lot less nerve-wrecking than I had anticipated. And that's all I needed to apply for AOS!!!

I am so excited and happy and thankful that I was able to do this and now I have a chance at legalization.

Finally adding myself to this AP timeline. I'll preface this by saying I submitted the documents myself, but consulted with an attorney first regarding risks and my personal immigration history.

I mailed my AP request today via 2-day express mail. I requested AP for humanitarian purposes; to meet my biological family in the Philippines (I'm adopted) and also under the condition that my birth mother is sick.

My application packet was 35 pages long and included all of her medical records such as ultrasounds, biopsy results, and a medical certificate confirming diagnosis and recommendations for surgery. I also included my personal statement regarding my request, birth records and adoption records. The wait now begins. #postivevibes
