Like I said in a different post:

They need to vote for the Dream act in September, period.

If they can toughen enforcement measure by measure, they can bring immigration reform legislation by legislation.

Moreover, the Dream Act is already written. What do they mean they have to draft regulations? It has been written since 2001!!!!!!!

Schumer, Reid and Pelosi need to be held accountable as well. Harry Reid declared on March 10 (My god, it seems as if a decade ago) or around that time, that he was committed to passing immigration reform this year. Pelosi declared that for the 'first time in a long time, the time is ripe for immigration reform". Very well. Do something about it this September and pass the DA. What can you say to that? If they had in fact followed through back in March and April, this would have been already put into law. That's the difference that 'waiting' makes.

I do agree with most of your points. I believe, and I'm sure 99% of the DA community is with me, that the DA should be a stand alone bill. Now it makes sense that the advocates for CIR want to ride the DA's bus when it heads to congress, but that just diminishes the chances of the DA to come out any time soon(by anytime soon I mean within Obama's first term). And that's what I'm pissed about.

If the republicans can manage to paint Obama's health reform as such a bad thing (something that's actually going to benefit Americans) and make everyone fight about it. Imagine what's going to happen when he brings up CIR... which may include the DA in it.. If the DA is in that thing were screwed for sure. Because republicans will play the amnesty card and aside of brain washing people they will already have an army of other people who don't want "amnesty" to happen in the first place.

So I can see just exactly what gebodupa said on his reply, the administration implementing all the tough changes on immigration but when it comes time for the relief, nothing will pass and they'll blame it on lack of bipartisanship.
There was no anger in my post. I simply responded to your post, and corrected any mistakes there may have been in it.

Number 1 may seem that it was typed with anger, but I normally use harsh words when lawmakers do illogical decisions based politics. I don't have anger towards them, but I wish they would try to chance the system.

Number 5 may have sounded arrogant, but you initially made a pretty baseless claim on a post that had nothing to do with understanding politics.

If I offended you in some way, then I apologize. I don't exactly want to make enemies in a forum where we are suppose to be organizing for a common goal.

Hey guys. Long time lurker here... I think there's good and bad to take away from this.

The Good

Obama is, at last, finally talking about it after what, to me, seemed to be a virtual radio silence. I don't think I saw the words "Obama" and "immigration" together in a big newspaper article since... well, the election. He's not stupid; he knows Democrats need the Hispanic vote in 2010, and he knows that particular block of voters are getting pissed at him for delaying the immigration bill. He can't delay it any longer without taking MAJOR political damages now.

The Bad

Man... think about DREAMers who are turning 35 this year or the next. I'm 22 right now and I'm about to spend my first "idle" year as I've graduated May of this year. It kills me not to be able to go off to med school like my friends (I'm just doing volunteer and research full time to fill the time right now...), but the guys who are hanging by a thread on the age limit... I can't even imagine the level of anxiety they're going through.

Best of luck to all of us. I don't have much faith in Obama, but I still have faith in our Senators and Congressmen.

I stopped posting for a while because of all these naive imbeciles, always bitching about what Obama does and what he doesn't.

Yes I'm also frustrated at the delayed time line, but grow the hell up and stop throwing an emo fit over how the world works - really, no one gives a shit what you think of Obama, what's happening is the best we've got.

Hypothetically speaking, if DA was to be brought up as a stand alone and Obama signs it into law, say in December, I'm sure everyone in this thread who foul mouthed Obama will call him a savior - exactly the type of childish attitude that I, as well as so many others are sick of.

Personally, I'm going to hunker down and give it until early next year, and see how things move along. The Senate agenda is finite, and they can only bs so much before we get an idea on if it's worth waiting in 2010 or not.

If you're so unhappy with this, please just leave, instead of shouting out your delinquent thoughts that make this website look like it's full of middle school kids.

At this pace we'll be all middle aged by the time the dream passes. They should just get rid of the 10yr ban so that we could leave and still be able to visit friends and family once in the while. Honestly I'll be ready to leave soon but I cannot stay away for 10yrs. How can anybody expect someone to just leave and loose contact with everything/everyone that they know. I'll be sneaking in through canada or something to attend friends weddings - LoL...

No you didn't offend me at all. But I think I on the other hand should apologize, because looking back at it now you were just stating your opinion and there's nothing ignorant about that. So ya I apologize for that. And you couldn't be more right, this is a place to unite, but just like anywhere else in the world people will have different views of things.

Nice attitude, I read your posts also and it's that same old "I know more than you so you're wrong" drama, do us a favor and go argue somewhere else.
