Wow I thought I had it bad. I have no job, no DL, I don't go to college, here in GA it is way too expensive, but I do have my family here and some friends that sympathize with my situation. I only get to go out on weekends because I have to take care of my 3 year old sister. I moved out of my house about 2 months ago, but I came back because my mom apparently cries every night and that made my little brother and sister cry and I love them to death so I had to come back. I agree with jothesh2, just have a positive outlook and hopefully we can get this done soon. Overall I would give my situation a 3 or 4, some of you guys have it worse than I. But just know that you are not all alone, you have us and you'll see, when the DREAM passes you will be a lot happier. Haha, I was just thinking about how insignificant our DREAMs of driving, working, and going to school are to those people who have the access to them and take them for granted. Those people suck.

2, it would be a 1 if I didn't have to work to pay for my education expenses.

This post makes me super sad :[
It's so frustrating to read all this. All these young amazing human beings going through all this BS. I'd say i'm an 8. I been in this country since i was 9... i am now 21.My dad got deported in '08 after being in the U.S for 18 yrs, so now its just my mom, my two siblings and I. Got a DUI when i was 19... paid all my fines and did my substance abuse classes then got a voluntary deportation. I came back a month later, couldn't stand being away my family and friends. I made some mistakes but i also learned so much from them. What depresses me the most is that the dream act will most likely not help me at all because of my past. I just really hope i'm not an illegal for the rest of my life :/
But on the other hand, i have an amazing social life...a huge family and tons of friends that support me on anything i do, a great job , a car and pretty much anything I've ever wanted except a chance to succeed in life :'[
Hmm actually I think i'll change mine to a 10. I've also fallen in a deep depression and sometimes wish I'd never wake up... but of course i keep it to myself and stay strong for my family.
Bleeh this sucks :[

Can moderator combine these stories and send them to Senators or news channels? I'm not that good with researching and social work so don't blame me not doing that. I wish I could...
Anyway, my number would be around 6-7. No SSN, DL expired about 8 months ago and cannot renew it. I have a nice car that I still drive as I need to drive for living. My parents got deportation but never left. My father passed away 1.5 years ago because we couldn't afford treating his hernia. We went to emergency room with him and doctors said his blood is contaminated and he passed away Makes me sad everyday I see people who never worked in this country and go to doctors just because they are bored and taxpayers pay for them.
My mother and my younger sister lives with me. I also have a girlfriend who lives with me also. I pay all the bills and rent. My mother works from time to time at jobs here and there and my sister is a cashier for cash.
I hope for Dream Act to pass so I can drive legally and have SSN. I'm growing older every year. I want have a future and not find myself old and sick on the street or go back to my country to start all over. I want kids and family. I hold US Patent for, ironically, inventing Super US patriotic souvenir but cannot talk to anyone to finance the production as I have no SSN or business under my name so I gave up on it.
On the bright side, I enjoy life as much as I can. I have friends to hang out with, my girlfriend I'm together with everyday, my car that I mess with, not steady but work that support us all.
One day we all get papers and will be a part on US society. Some stories here are very sad. For all the suffering we went through God should make Dream Act pass...

I'd say about 1.

Just graduated from college last Sunday. Just found a cash paying job that's in my field (warehouse manager... graduated with a B.S. in Operations Management) and I do freelance web development and database work.

I've been working on a powerful forehand for the last 8 months and nearly perfected it Nadal style. I've lost tons of weight and got a lot stronger heading to the gym everyday. Summer's here, so it's surfing time again. minusthebear and circa survive's new albums are amazing. On top of it, I have incredible friends and we have tons of fun.

Only thing that really blows is the no license situation and having to show my passport when I want some beer.

EDIT: Also, a good friend on mine and myself are in the process of securing assets to open up a business (www.iconsofvanity.com)

I would say a 7. I have a DL, a family, a job, and I do go to college but I have no social life/nor friends. Not having a social life, nor friends was a consequence of maybe leaving my home country at the age of 15, at the start of my adolescence. So I can't blame that on not having "papers". People who have never lived in a different country can't comprehend the cultural shock we have when we get here. We have to learn the language, attend a very 'alien' high school, and so on and so forth... Sometimes I feel that I am neither american nor brazilian. I dont want to leave the US just to find out that I am going to be unemployed, but I also don't want to stay here without the possibility of having a good future. I am afraid if nothing changes, I am going to have to go back home.

I thought it was a rarity, but maybe half the people who've replied to this post are saying that they have DLs, and I'm pretty surprised by that. I live in California, and I believe that it's not possible for me to get one here even though I have a SSN. Did you guys get your DLs from Washington or something?
Yes, i got mine from Oregon in 2003 when it was possible. Relatives near Portland at the time told my parents and i that it was possible to do so there without a social. Now i think it is down right impossible to do so because they have been cracking down on this. Best odds are now in the states of Washington and New Mexico that i know of.
