You retards who constantly bash Senator Durbin or Reid realize that they do not HAVE to help us at all? It's not a right that we have, they're trying to get us the privilege that we don't have because of the injustice in our situation.

Instead of complaining, either make more calls to sway the swing votes, or just go back to your home country. Seriously.

If any of you are leaving condescending messages or demanding calls to Senator Durbin or Reid regarding the legislation, I'm going to go as far as saying that you don't deserve shit.

You cannot keep bowing down to the Republicans. If they keep passing secure border bills and the like, the next time immigration comes up the Republicans only move farther and farther to the right. At the end of that process, they will be demanding deportation of everybody, repeal 14th Amendment, strip people of citizenship and papers if they speak English with an accent, shut down DREAM Act portal, etc., etc.

Anybody that claims we should cave more to the right, should pay more attention to what the right is doing. Tea Partiers are sacrificing Republicans in the name of purity tests and claim that they will win elections by going farther to the right rather than going to the middle. The tactic of Republicans right now is no compromise, and I doubt it will change regardless of what happens in this election.

Instead of compromising, the Democrats should grow a pair, and start playing Republican games. Hold the defense bill hostage, strip the army of funding, refuse to fund the Department of Homeland Security, tell them any new border security bills will have to be paid for out of the DoD budget since they involve troops and would supposedly be "defending" America, and refuse to renew any of the Bush tax cuts unless the Republicans agree to make meaningful concessions.

This is what the Republicans have done and look where it's gotten them. The country has mysteriously forgotten all the numerous ways Republican policies hurt the country. People complain about the budget deficits, but it is the Bush tax cuts that makes that impossible. Obama looks incapable. Democrats are divided, and losing support from the base that should support them because they tried compromise for every bill they have passed. The Republicans were able to get a bunch of their Amendments added to the Health Care Bill--and it was a Republican health care bill that passed, modeled after Romneycare and McCain's plan in the election. The Dems had a supermajority and political capital far behind anything they had since LBJ, but they wasted it begging for a few Republican votes they never got.

Once DA passes, you are given a GC therefore you are a parmanent resident not an immigrant.

No. Not exactly. They don't HAVE to pass a defense bill by end of this year. When they come back in november and they're still fighting and they still can't get 60 votes, then they can just pass what is called a continuing resolution (they have to pass something because government agencies and military must be funded). Continuing resolution would take the form of joint resolution and would just keep funding the related agencies at current level (so just an agreement to keep funding the agencies the exact same why they've been funding it this year) until in 2011 a new congress would pass a defense bill. Levin said dream could be a part of it. but it is probably better off for us if dream was introduced as a standalone bill so we need to call durbin and reid's office and ask them to bring up dream act as a standalone bill.

no. you would be given a temporary residency if you have GED or high school diploma. and then youd be given a GC if you meet the 2 yr military or college requirement. then you would be a permanent resident.

Newsflash, B: they already hate your guts. Man how i'd love to see an executive order smacked upside republicans' heads.
