Not to mention the so-called home country you speak of is not the home country for the majority of DREAM Act beneficiaries.

The United States of America is my home country.
I understand its a 10 years but I am just posting options. 3 year bans doesn't sound bad.

Canada is a good option and so is Australia.

Please look here to see the status of the bill:

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=s111-3827

This is good news, but it isn't fantastic news. The Dream Act goes down to step 1 and must survive all the way to the President. We were very close to having Dream finish its legislative life on Tuesday, but that did not happen. So all that happened yesterday was that the Dream Act was introduced (again) to the calendar.

Okay, but what does that mean? Well if you are unfamiliar with how Congress passes bills.. then shame on you, I suggest you go read up on it because you are trying to become an American right?! Well anyways, first the bill has to be debated by a committee. This committee has to pass the bill on to the Senate. Then the Senate must vote on it, then the House, then finally the President must sign it. Assuming they all agree on the same version.

So Mona Lisa, this does not mean that the bill will be voted as is. This is one of the major draw backs to having a stand alone bill. It will be amended every step of the way until finally the Senate, the House, and the President all approve it.

I would suggest you guys keep looking at that page and wait to see which committee will be debating the bill. In the past, the Senate Judiciary Committee has looked at the bill, so call the members of that committee:

http://judiciary.senate.gov/about/members.cfm

Focus on solely the members of the committee, then when the bill makes it past them, it's time to start collecting 60 votes.

Canada does have a Federal workers program based on points.

Those who are looking for a civilian career then Canada is a good option.

great...and taking bills through a committe will take a while...then there has to be an open time for the senate to debate this. Senate chooses if it lives or die. House votes on it if passed by senate...then the presiden has to sign it. =( We won't be seeing dream this year.

S.9 aka CIR has been on the legislative calender since 2009. So this doesn't mean much IMO.
