Oh my god you got the interview letter already? That's great! The RFE letters only came in for my sis and father and theirs has been mailed out already. We contacted USCIS and told them that we didn't get the rest of the notices, so they're going to send it out again.

I'm sorry your lawyer's incompetence has delayed your progress. You shouldn't have gotten that RFE, especially if you're paying someone to help you do this right. Sigh, all you can do is wait and send the info they need! Hope it all works out as painlessly and as quickly as possible. *hug*

Hi guys! Thought I should keep everyone posted. My brother and mom got an appointment notice for January and it's for an interview! The notice states "Request for applicant to appear for initial interview" and case type is application to register permanent residence or adjust status. With the way things are going, I am expecting the notices for the rest of my family and myself to arrive shortly. Also, I checked their status online and it hasn't been updated so I wanted to let you know that some of you may or may not find the most updated info. on your case.

awesome!! congrats same with us, no online updates but our interview is in 16 days... i might get an ulcer i'm so terrified!

no sight of work permit? a family friend started the process on september 20th (we started around second week of october) and she just received her EAD. expecting we will get ours maybe this week. exciting! if we apply for a SSN it'll say "valid only with dhs authorization" so some people wait to apply when they get the green card, but i dont care, i'll just update it to not have that after i get (IF i get it). i just want to get a job asap.....

sorry about not using punctuation, that's very unlike me but it's almost 3am and i have to be up in like 6 hours

again congrats to you my friend...

Thank you very much and congrats to you too. Just an update, the lawyer received appointments for all of us today except my dad but I'm sure his is in the mail too. Since our appointment is early January should I be expecting the EAD before that? That's how it supposed to work but I feel that my case is so muddled that it's difficult to get a handle on what point I'm at right now.
Do keep me posted on how your interview goes, I'm sure you and your family will do great

That's awesome news. I think you should be expecting the EAD anyway since if I'm not mistaken, your process is going to take over 3 months total. Our family friend had her interview TODAY (I haven't talked to her so I don't know how it went... she's a 245i case too), and she received her EAD a few days ago. I'm interested in getting it so I can start working even sooner. When is your interview? Good luck to you all....

My interview is on January 12th. The notice stated that we needed to bring in original birth certificates, problem is that my siblings and I were born in three different countries and we only have the original birth certificate for one. We had taken the originals and gotten them translated into English when we came here. Do you think it is necessary to have the originals or would the English translated(these are notarized by the embassy btw) ones do? Talked to the lawyer and he said that it shouldn't be a problem but I rather make sure. I was thinking about emailing USCIS and asking them about it.

Honestly silver, I think it's up to them. It seems to seem like officers vary, some are more knowledgeable, some are more strict, some are more lenient. If you get a nice guy, it shouldn't be a problem, but you never know. Worst case scenario from what I've seen is that he'll say "I'll look into your case a little more and you'll get something in the mail". Usually you get accepted.

In my eyes, if it's notarized by the EMBASSY, then that's pretty legit... you can always do an infopass before your interview but I'm not sure if that's necessary. You can try asking Ron (an immigration lawyer) on his forum >> here << He's very experienced and helpful and tends to answer to most posts made on that forum.

Good luck I can't believe we're so close....

Thanks for your advice. We're going to see the lawyer tomorrow and discuss. As for the birth certificates, my Mom is working on getting them from each of our respective countries, if it works out then there's no need to second guess our docs. I'll check out the link you posted, and thanks again. I'm starting to feel giddy about all this too.
Did you get a chance to talk with your family friend about her interview? I'm itching to hear about actual experiences.
