They'll accept and cash the check in their offshore Cayman island department of homeland security account. Then send you back the application and say there is no check.

The lockbox will either reject it or accept it depending how strict they are. The lockbox just checks that you sent the money and signed everything, they don't actually do any of the immigration work. If it gets rejected they'll send it back to you and you can resubmit it.
