Some of u have mentioned about the big fail in 2010. That was a horrible feeling... right before finals too!!! I must admit a kind of lost hope. It is really hard to stay optimistic, but we must. That is one of the reasons we should celebrate as we stard receiving our EADs and gain strengths to keep pushing for a dream act or cir... and give young dreamers a chance to not end up somber like us old dreamers...

Remember it took like a couple decades to past any sort of significant Health Care Reform and that affected citizens and non-citizens.
If we've been close in the last 6 years, there is hope.

didn't dream act propose back in 2001? Imagine being 18 back then hoping it would pass to help you pay for school

I agree. There has to be an answer to DACA.. Keep in mind were still illegal just now we can work and pay taxes, but we cannot stay this way. I don't foresee this going backwards unless a total ...hole is in the white house as much as I don't foresee this just being the sole ability to renew your work auth. This my friends is purgatory, we've departed the nine circles of hell and are awaiting the pearly gates to open...

I remember back in June 15 I was only partly satisfied by this.
  • I was disappointed this was all Obama could conjure.
  • I was disappointed this led to no legal status.
  • I was disappointed that we were basically auto deporting ourselves with this.

But now I see it this way.
There is basically one end game.
  • Say we get deferred, come 12 months from now a lot of people are going to be saying well what now. I see two outcomes, either there has been a sensible debate on CIR or DA and there has been some fruitful outcome. If there can't be a CIR or DA, they will have to piecemeal our circumstances. Say, grant conditional status to a chunk of us, or take us out of deferral to a more secured status. (I mean there is almost .000001% off our situation getting worst). This would be created by the inalienable spawn of 'ambition' , DREAMERs will want more! I mean once you're in the door you don't want to get out, the party just gets better. Say, Temporary/Conditional etc. something more beneficial.
  • Democrats need to keep their promise of CIR/DA by the end of next year for 2014 midterms.
  • Republicans can't keep saying 'No' anymore. WTH? DO they think the country is 90% bigot?
I just can't see this as the end. I can't but see this as a fast track to something better.

Obama might not of gotten us to the promise land right now, but I can see the light.

Interesting........ for me it was

Before Fall 2010
  • Attending Immigration Protests
  • Organizing events
  • Helping people out
  • Volunteering in immigration related events

After 2010
  • Hmmm there will be something, I know it
  • Hmm we just gotta be more patience
  • hmmm well, looks like nothings gonna happen seems just got white people pissed with these protests....
  • nothing came of it after all huh

I mean, seeing the 2010 Dream Act failed really hit me hard =/ It was something I had been wishing and wanting for so long, I guess the fail Bush Immigration Reform hit me hard too but the 2010 Dream Act really got me pessimist about the situation and yeah I too felt like, "man, I've filed taxes since I turned 18, Registered for SS, Help out in the community, have good grades,am active at school doing this doing that and this is all we, I get? I know I shouldn't be demanding for more but I at least would have liked to be able to get students loans for banks....."

Its kinda sad still, for me, I am still a bit pessimists about this and I feel that nothing will really come out of this. I guess all those negative comments from CNN, Yahoo News ect ect are really affecting me now. Like if Obama doesn't fix anything, there could be a chance that DACA just gets cancelled out and we all get deported or something happens. I know its a risk and all but man, at least not have Temporary Status in our future DL would have been nice......nicer than not being able to get benefits even...

I can't see DACA being cancelled with out CIR/DA... maybe I'm being naive about this but can you see the social fall out from that happening? The president told x millions of kids come forward come out of the shadows... to 4-8 years later get deported...?

Wow, it's weird seeing people bring up the 2010 DA. I remember calling my ass off, leaving messages for politicians that weren't even in my state. And I remember watching the vote in between classes and thinking of not going to my next class because I was so upset. Yeah, things definitely changed after that. A lot of people around me gave up on the DA.

This might seem a bit harsh but this is what I think. What obama just did was a smart move. He is going to give us permission to work and pay taxes without getting any benefits of any taxpayer citizen or permanent resident. Where is all of our taxes going to go? We wont qualify for the healthcare act, goverment assistance and we dont even know if we are eligible for unemployment, disability or social security. Is just for profit?? Seems like it. I dont think DACA will ever be cancelled or anything. Nothing will happen until we start demanding more than just DACA. It will probably take 10 years. we dont know who will be president after obama's second term.
