He can't sign up with his career center because they say he doesn't have legal status. They don't know (or don't care) that there are many different shades of legality like "legal status", "lawful presence", and "authorized to accept employment".

Cooltalker..You must speak directly to somebody on a higher level. The career center obviously isn't up to date. You are attending that college. You are authorized to work. Therefore, you are entitled to their services. What exactly is this registration process? How do you register and what do they ask? I only ask because this was not the case at my college. We just have to sign into our portal and the career management services is available to us. If you can, let us know what college you attend and the career website or something. This is going to be very hard for me to believe if you're attending a private college.
