I'm almost at the 7 month mark. I'm on hold right now with USCIS, on 2/28 I spoke with a level 2 rep and he submitted a request for me (even tho I know they will tell me the same generic answer they've been telling everyone) and he told me that if I haven't received a response by 3/15 to call them. So I just talked to a level 1 rep and she said that no request was filed, I have the confirmation # they gave me but she didn't even want to take it she just transferred me to the level 2 people. She did seem aggravated that they submitted a request tho because she said they have been told not to submit requests for 821D for being out of the processing timeframe.

So it will probably take another 40 minutes to speak with a level 2 rep and they'll probably just tell me I have to keep waiting but I will keep trying because I don't want to be waiting a year or more just to hear that they overlooked my application and they haven't even touched it. Because they are so hateful that they probably wouldn't even apologize for a major fuck up like that.

I also (hopefully) will be hearing back from the ombudsman this week. *fingers super freaking crossed*

Got off the phone a few minutes ago. I spoke with the nicest rep ever! I felt like she really felt for me. She said she didn't see anything bad found on my background check thus far, to which I replied that I"m not worried about them finding anything because if I had anything bad in my past I would have never applied. I explained my history with them and how my biggest source of confusion is the fact that people that have applied waaaaaay after me are getting approved when I've been waiting almost 7 months, and also that my biggest worry is that my case is just collecting dust and not being worked on. She said that it depends on the case worker and their work load, she said that it looked like I was unfortunately just waiting in line. So I asked if it's not a first come first serve line then. She said that it depends on the department that does the background check, which is a different department than the caseworker, and the caseworker doesn't have control over how long this department takes with my application.

Soooo, I think this is what happened with my unlucky application: It was received in the first weeks of DACA but my background check took longer than others, then the hoards of application started trickling in and my original caseworker has been working quicker background checks this whole time. I think the reason for my background check taking so long is the fact that I've had many addresses and moved around a lot. So the background check dept, God knows what their process is, but for whatever reason something is holding them up and I think that whatever it is it's making them turn to other applications while they wait for info for my addresses and/or other stuff.

To ease my anxiety of them not touching my case she said what I could do is ask for a service request every month. She said a response for the service request was mailed on 3/15, so if I haven't heard anything 30 days after 3/15 I could call and do another service request so they can stay on top of it. And since I ain't got shit to do I will surely be doing that. I hope the ombudsman can have more influence on that "background check dept".

Sounds logical. Thank you for that info. There's probably a lot of people who have a similar case as yours and are being held up by the background verification.
