This is very interesting and something I had never heard of. I would love to hear more about people who have successfully completed the entire process.

I think that will clear up a lot of people's questions.

so if i overstayed left with AP and came back, i would still have unlawful status?

Yes. You've already racked up the unlawful status. Leaving and returning on the basis of AP will not get rid of that.

If that is all you have, all you need is a path to adjust - From a family member, work or marriage.

Yes, and since you're an overstayer you gain nothing from AP. You can adjust via marriage anyways. You can't adjust via any other category unless you're covered under 245(i).

That is incorrect. Overstayers can only adjust via immediate relative citizen family members (spouses, children over 21, and parents if under 21). You cannot adjust via family in any category that's not IR, and you can't adjust via work*, unless you're covered under 245(i).

* - via work you can adjust status if you have less than 180 days of illegal presence or/and illegal employment (since last admission in US), this is a special exemption under section 245(k). Advance parole doesn't count as admission for purposes of 245(k), only arrivals on visas.

Did you apply for it yourself? Or did you go through a lawyer?

How does the AP card look like? Could someone that was approved take a picture (black out the personal information of course).

Does it still say C33 under type? What's the expiration date? Some states deny drivers license specifically for those with C33 category. So if the category changes to some specific advance parole it might just work.

Probably unlikely in the end. Since I'm sure the law defines codes which are accepted, as opposed to listing the one that isn't. But who knows, maybe they haven't thought it through.

Without a good reason you wouldn't get it in the first place. And even if you had the required proof it would be some really expensive drivers license that you couldn't renew. But maybe it could be an added benefit for those who returned?

It's not a card. It's a thick piece of paper with all the official seals from USCIS, just like the DACA approval notice. This paper also has your picture on it.

And as the OP said, it will come printed with the dates in which you can travel and re-enter the country, so you definitely wouldn't process it unless you're sure you'll use it, and you know exactly the dates when.

There were people talking about a different EAD like card being issued. One that said Valid for re-entry.

Is that piece of paper all you need to re-enter? Does it even have a picture?

EDIT:
I see now, the EAD with permission to re-entry is called a Combo Card and is given out to those that have a green card application pending. Otherwise you get a piece of paper with your photo.
