The amendment says they would not transition to LPR after RPI until certain tangible stipulations are met (i.e. the 700 miles of completed border fencing, new Border Patrol Agents). They would not lose RPI status if those measures are not met which was what some of the Republicans wanted.

I understand everyone's frustrations, but I'll keep asking what do we do? Wait until we have a bill that gives us everything we want?

If this is what Obama signs, we either take it and make the best of a bad situation or we continue to watch our lives get worse.

Both my parents have green cards actually, but your parents don't have to wait to apply until the border is secure either. They will apply once the bill goes into effect, but they won't get their green cards until the border is deemed secure.

Unfortunately true with the political climate. Though I do believe a line has to be drawn somewhere. There has to be a point where even if Sessions would vote aye that it wouldn't be worth passing the bill.

Wait...there is no more trigger before you can apply?

They were talking about having a trigger before you can even apply for RPI, has this been removed??

MYTH Hoeven-Corker grants instant amnesty.

FACT: In order to adjust to lawful RPI status, unlawful immigrants would be required to pay a fine, pass criminal and national security background checks, and start paying taxes. Only after ALL FIVE “triggers” of the Hoeven-Corker Amendment have been fully implemented AND at least 10 YEARS have passed can RPIs apply for a green card.
